Wellspring Arms & Meditation Center, Wednesday
It had been a long few days, though Cable was not going to tell anyone what he did or what he had to kill to return Wellspring Arms to something of a manageable state. Nor did he tell anyone about what he found in the back, or what he was planning to do with it.
No, he simply strode outside on Wednesday morning, hung a cheerfully rustic 'Come in, we're open' sign on the door below the NOW HIRING sign, and patted the door.
Then he slipped right back inside.
Wellspring Arms & Meditation Center was open for business.

Re: The Counter
Cable was sat in a chair behind the counter, newspaper in hand.
If he noticed her, he didn't show.
Re: The Counter
Octavia didn't mind not being immediately greeted, or even acknowledged. Honestly, she preferred it that way.
She looked around in silence for a moment. Then, without preamble, she said, idly looking at something or other, "This shop always made more sense to me than any of the others on the island."
Re: The Counter
He turned the page in the paper.
"Funny thing it stood empty for this long."
Re: The Counter
By Octavia's standards. There'd been a lot more shooting where she was from.
Re: The Counter
Re: The Counter
If she'd been familiar with the term 'your mileage may vary', she probably would've used it.
"It's more like long stretches of quiet followed by a brief threat from the outside." And she should've preferred that. And, yet.
Re: The Counter
He shrugged, flipping a page in the newspaper. "But that's not as exciting as war."
Re: The Counter
Liar. Or at least, it wasn't that simple.
She was still looking around the store. Didn't seem that different from when Bellamy had worked here, but then, Octavia had probably only visited once or twice.
Re: The Counter
He was studying an article about the importance of trees to agriculture.

Re: The Counter
Re: The Counter
That was a good use of a matter-of-fact kind of tone, she felt.
Re: The Counter
He was a simple, firearms-loving man.
Re: The Counter
"Killing shouldn't be easy."
Re: The Counter
"It shouldn't," he agreed. "But sometimes it has to be."
Re: The Counter
She seemed to shrug it off.
"So, knives?"
Re: The Counter
Re: The Counter
"Guess I'll have to come back, then."
Re: The Counter
Flick of the page. "Hm. Crossword."
Re: The Counter
"Leida," she said. And left.
