Luke's, Sunday
Kanan walked into the diner and paused at the silence in the place. On the specials board, there was only one word written. Half-written, actually.
The specials board read, "Panc."
And then there was a squiggle that led down toward the floor from the end of that C. Underneath, the busboy was taking a nap.
Kanan peered into the kitchen. The cook was snoozing on a bag of flour. The dishwasher, having no dishes to wash, had joined in.
Kanan was almost going to hate walking through the kitchen smashing two frying pan bottoms together.
Almost.
Luke's is open, honest!
[OOC: ... I needed a nap. Open now!]

"I need a favor," she said.

Only mildly.
"What kind of favor?"

Maybe it would get mauled to death. Maybe the cold would kill it. Who knew?

Kanan squinted at the fish. And then back at Rey.
"If Eliot finds it in there, he's going to murder me," he pointed out.
This wasn't a no, of course.

"I'm pretty sure the temperature should at least be enough to put it to sleep," she assured him. "...as it were."
Because this thing wasn't really alive, right?
no subject
"Maybe if we hide it behind a heavy box of steaks or something so that it can't accidentally wander anywhere it isn't supposed to?"
It was going to return to Skywalker on Wednesday screaming, freezerburned, and wearing a little 'kiss the cook' apron or something, wasn't it?
no subject
"That should work. And maybe a box of something heavy that you don't sell a lot of so no one uncovers it?"
Never a good sign when you had to say 'uncovers' like that, Rey. That was often said about things like mummy curses and sarcophaguses.

There! Solutions!

"Don't mention it," he replied, shrugging and nodding toward the back before leading the way to the freezer. "Just don't be so competitive next time around, okay?"

Spoiler: lies.

This was news to Kanan, who kept winding up in these damn things whether he signed up for them or not.

He opened the freezer door and stepped inside.
The wilderness awaited.

If anything, he'd probably been downplaying the size of this place. The novelty wore off after working here for a while.

"Back here should do it, then," he offered. "Safe and sound."

At least it would be easy to remember?

"And in a couple more days, it won't be your problem again. Unless muscle memory betrays you a second time, I suppose."

Could dogs swear in binary? Probably not.

Well. Chopper.
no subject
This kind of thinking was going to get you in trouble someday, Rey.
no subject
And he actually more or less got along with Chopper, so Kanan was concerned.

But what an adorable way to go.

And then tilted her head in confusion, because Chopper couldn't be that bad.
no subject
"... You look confused."
Clearly she hadn't spent enough time with Chopper to understand.
no subject
"I thought you said he'd push someone out an airlock?"
no subject
"If you find that confusing, now I'm wondering what it was you were afraid Chopper was going to teach the fish," he admitted.

He generally behaved himself marginally better when they were on a mission and Hera was around to tell him to be good, granted.

In spades.
