That Warehouse What Kanan Took, Friday Afternoon

So... the door could use a few repairs, which is what Kanan was putting his focus into today after classes. Yes, of course he had the usual pile of sword training supplies waiting inside the warehouse, but he had no intention of letting that door keep swinging freely after Kaidan had punted the thing open on Tuesday.

So, if anybody were to walk by the warehouse today, they'd see Kanan just... doing battle with hinges and re-framing the door of an abandoned warehouse. You know. As one does.

Ah, hell. At this rate he might as well just put out a welcome mat.

It was week three before Rey had nothing important to give an update on, but she'd promised checkins, so ring, ring, Kanan

And Kanan wasn't doing anything more important on his end than swinging a hammer!

"Rey," he greeted, grinning as he answered the phone. "Happy Friday."

Or whatever day it was on Jakku?

Happy... day.

It said Friday on her phone, so it counted!

"I think saying 'happy Friday' means you've successfully acclimated to Earth," Rey smiled.

"I have no idea if that's a good sign or not," Kanan replied, grinning a bit. "It's been a long, long time since I could say I've acclimated to anywhere."

Kaller had been close. Gorse... he'd been skirting the edge of it.

Earth? Who would have ever seen that one coming?

"Probably a case of Fandom sneaking up on you when you least expect it," she said. "How are you doing?"

"Sounds about right," Kanan agreed. "And overall? I'm not complaining. Stance got to go to a birthday party yesterday- I'll send you some of the pictures from that. I made a point to not post some to that Twitter account so that they could be all yours."

Particularly the ones from when Stance discovered Girl, and puppy playtime had ensued.

"Thank you," she said, smiling. She was totally checking that account when she was able, yes. "Did you also go to this party?"

"Well, someone had to take the pictures," Kanan replied, grinning. "Iris invited the entire island. I don't know the guy personally, so I mostly stood around the edges, but I figured there wasn't any harm in attending it, either."

"And clearly Stance had to go."

It checked out.

"Wouldn't want Stance to miss a party, right?"

That would be so sad, Rey. So sad.

"And you probably needed something for Twitter," she guessed.

"Summer never would have forgiven me otherwise," Kanan confirmed. He leaned back against the doorframe, grinning faintly. "So, how've you been, Rey?"

"Fine. There's not much news," she said, almost apologetically. "I think I've discovered some piles of sand that are new to me."

"Want some help?" Kaidan offered when he caught sight of Kanan trying to hang a door by himself, "Or are you practicing your Force cheating?"

"You kicked it in, you can hold this board," Kanan replied, turning a smirk Kaidan's way. "I don't cheat nearly as often as you'd think, you know."

[spectre_alenko]

"I can hold the board," Kaidan agreed, taking the board. "Also, you kicked it in first. Also also, you cheat enough I can accuse you of it fairly. Also also also, this could be a fun way for you to practice manipulating crap with the Force for dexterity. I don't judge."

Mostly he laughed.

"And hey, I do that, too," Kanan admitted, grinning a touch shamelessly. "I was doing this one the old-fashioned way."

With a bit of swearing.

"So I heard," Kaidan grinned back at him. That swearing hadn't been quiet. "How's your week been?"

[uncertain_dume]

"Overall?" Kanan shrugged. "Quiet. Yesterday involved taking Stance to the park. I'm pretty sure he's more into parties than I am."

Not a stretch.

"Yeah, I saw you lurking," Kaidan teased, "Iris brought enough cake to feed a small army. Did you manage any?"

After a moment, he added, "Seiverden took the opportunity to get in my face, so that was fun."

"Sure, I had cake. She got in your face?" Kanan glanced up from the hammer at that. "You two really don't get along, do you?"

... Not that Kanan didn't understand.

[spectre_alenko]

"I'd been successfully ignoring her for over a month," Kaidan said mildly, "I passed a message on through Peter for Hernando to let her know her precious virgin hand-hating eyes were safe in his shop as of the 14th, she decided to get in my face, I let her know in blunt terms using small words and diagrams that if she goes for my friends, ever, I'm going to beat the shit out of her and throw her through the first portal I can find."

"... Well, I can't imagine she didn't get the point," Kanan noted.

And then he smirked faintly.

"I ever tell you about how I met her?"

"I can. She's deliberately obtuse. She can't claim I didn't warn her if I ever do, now, though." Kaidan frowned. He really hoped it wouldn't come to that. She really wasn't worth his time.

"Yeah," he smiled a little, "She got insulting and you let Hera chase her out of the park."

After a moment, "I ever tell you why I let Sparkle start painting my nails?"

Well. Worse than insulting, but Kanan wasn't going to clarify while Kaidan was on a tear, either.

"I don't think you have," he replied, looking curiously at Kaidan's nails. "Now you've got me curious, though."
