The only reason Astrid bothered coming down to the park today was for the food, since she knew there was always a ton of it at these things and it was almost always good. Her plan was simple: show up, fill up a plate, and then scurry back up to the dorms, where she'd hole up in her room for the whole weekend (well, except to maybe go get more food) to avoid any awkward or embarrassing questions anyone might have about her lack of visitors.
Everyone here seemed to mind their own business about that sort of stuff, though, so that was good. Either way, she thought about just saying she was an orphan if anyone did catch her before she could disappear again. It was practically true, anyway. Forget showing up, which she couldn't do by rule of law; Ingrid hadn't even bothered writing or calling to tell Astrid as much. She might as well be an orphan at this point, really.
