Syndulla Scrap, Saturday
Hera had gone to sleep before Kanan came back from guard duty for his friend, only to be woken up sometime in the wee hours long enough to be told they had company, it was good.
She'd woken up before either Kanan or their guest, who turned out to be...a clone trooper? Hera might've had a heart attack if she didn't trust Kanan, because seriously?
Instead, she shook her head, got ready as quietly as she could, left a note on the counter, and slipped out. If they hadn't gotten in until Kanan had woken her, they probably needed the sleep.
So, she was at the scrapyard, going over the Ghost's propulsion system. If she could get even point-three more power out of that one repulsor, off-planet lift would be sped up considerably. "Hey, Chop, take a look over here, would you?"
The scrapyard was open, the alert was set if anybody came in, and Hera was engaged withone of her true loves.

Huh. High Galactic.
"She must be something else if you've come all this way to be with her."

Her eyes asked a million questions, but she just reached out for the bag. "Can I help carry?"
no subject
He gave her a bright grin.
"Hello there. You're his captain, are you?"
no subject
"That's me," she said, holding out a hand after an awkward second. "Hera Syndulla."
no subject
"Stance," he greeted. "Old friend of--" And this time, by some miracle, he caught himself in time. "--Kanan's."
Kanan, for his part, just kind of smiled wryly from a half-step behind him, shrugged, and nodded comfirmation.

"Yeah, yeah," he said, "let's get into actual seats. Get these burgers into our faces before the grease congeals."
Mm, how appetizing, Kanan.

The ramp was still down, and she moved a couple cables on her way up to keep from tripping. "Seeing if I can get any more out of the repulsors," she explained. "Thankfully Chopper's interested in it, so he'll probably stay out of the way," she added quietly.
no subject
"He's less sulky about it these days," he offered, turning a grin toward Hera. "You should've seen the pout he could work up when the boys started picking on him."
Oh look, Kanan was grumbling more.

She led the way to the ship's lounge and sat at one end of the bench seat, putting her Coke down on the holotable.
"Do I want to know why they picked on you?" she asked Kanan, equal parts amusement and genuine question.
no subject
"Never stopped Big-Mouth from having a fresh meiloorun on hand to surprise you with, though."
"True," Kanan replied, mouth pulling into a wry half-smile. "They didn't mean anything by it."

A pause.
"I'm familiar with the Coke stuff, though. That stuff's pretty alright."

Trauma pizza. It was traditional.

"What brings you here?" Hera asked Stance. A crazy thought occurred to her, but this was Fandom, so she had to find a way to phrase it to Kanan. "Has he...um...met the dog?"
no subject
"Oh, that funny spotty wolfish thing? Yeah, he came out and planted himself on my feet before I woke up, nearly jumped out of my skin this morning. Hell of a thing to wake up to when you don't know what it is."
He cast a look toward Kanan, just for that.
no subject
"That's him," Hera agreed. "He's really sweet, even if he's not much like a dog from back home. So...what brings you here, then?"
no subject
He smiled wryly at her with a face that was ten years too young. Twenty years too young, for a Clone.
"I'm not really necessarily anywhere, usually."
no subject
no subject
"Right."
He glanced at Stance. And then back to Hera, his food forgotten, for the moment.
"This is Stance," he said. "Stance and I served together in the war."
The war that a clone with a face that young couldn't possibly have existed for, yet.
There weren't clones with faces that young, anymore.
"He, um." Kanan swallowed.
"Died," Stance supplied. "I died. Before the war's end."

Weirdly enough, this was somehow harder.
Of course, he hadn't pulled a gun on his Master when she'd arrived.
no subject
"How long is this for?"

"Helps it's a one-sided catch-up," Stance quipped. Because jokes like that were apparently easier to make after you'd been dead for a decade.

They glanced at one another, and then Kanan shrugged.
"Basically the same thing anyway."

"Sounds good," he replied. "Bit of a joyride seems like a great way to spend a day."

She looked to Kanan for help.

Stance also glanced Kanan's way, blinking.
"He's got personality," Kanan decided, helpfully.
"Well," Stance mused, "he can't he half as bad as the clankers the Seps kept throwing at us."
no subject
no subject
"He really that bad?" Stance looked at Kanan curiously.
Kanan just grinned lopsidedly.
"Maybe don't try to boss him around or anything, and you'll probably be fine."
"Probably??"
Kanan shrugged.
