The Perk - Tuesday morning

Fenris wasn't in the best of moods. He'd been woken too early by Fjord - who happened to be a large green constrictor of some sort at the moment.

Who was currently residing in the very large front pocket of the oversize hoodie Fenris was wearing. The hoodie alone would have looked out of place and odd on the elf but the 8' snake huddling inside for warmth gave it volume and weight. Fenris rather looked as though he'd swallowed a melon whole.

A trip to the Perk for coffee was a necessary part of this morning. He asked for the largest mug they had and received a cappuccino in something more along the size of a soup bowl. An ask of whether they had spill proof containers and subsequent explanation of 'I have a snake in my pocket' - and resulting 'are you sure you're not just happy to see us' joke - turned up several baristas cheerfully dissecting one of their large catering boxes to dig out the mylar pouch inside. Hot water was added and it was wrapped in several layers of paper towels. Fenris made sure to tip them really, really well.

Some quick rearranging put the heating pad on the bottom of the pocket and had a happier, warmer Fjord and a slightly more portly looking Fenris.

He took a seat where he could see the door and out the windows and sipped his cappuccino. Fjord occasionally poked his head out to look around. "I'm not giving you coffee," Fenris informed him, "You'll burn your tongue. It's my understanding you probably need that unburnt until we figure out how to turn you back."

[Fjord modded with permission. Open!]

It was definitely a PSL kind of morning, so Summer swung by the Perk on her way to the store for a little seasonally thematic caffeine to help her get through some orders and merch reports. And she had to quirk her brow a little bit at the elf by the door sipping a cap in a big ol' hoodie looking a lot less comfy than you'd think a big ol' hoodie like that would suggest.

"Hey, Fenris," she greeting him with a nod, framing her natural curiosity with a little bit of basic pleasantries and conversation. "How's it going?"

Seivarden wasn't in the best of moods, but that was hardly unusual. She needed to get out of the apartment, she needed a cup of tea, and if it wasn't for the owner of the tea house being... whatever he was, she would go there.

As it was, her only alternative was the Perk.

"Loose leaf tea, black," she said with a sigh. The barista sighed to, and glared at her as she placed the mug in front of her.

"Can't you just stop this?" Seivarden said, picking up the mug and turning around to look for a seat.

"Fucking uncivilised tea haters," she muttered to herself.

"It's not the first time I'm here," Seivarden said, taking a sip from her tea.

"You got yourself a snake?"

Seivarden just glanced at Summer. A very unimpressed glance, followed by taking a sip of tea

"Just getting started." Summer shrugged, lifting her coffee as if to signify its importance as her first one of the day. She was still eyeing him oddly, though, as she added, "Just about to head in for some paperwork and orders, so, you know, super thrilling stuff. Probably not nearly as exciting as mage hunting, though. What'd'ya gotta go mage hunting for?"

If her little sip there seemed a little pointed, it was kind of meant to be. She couldn't help wondering what these mages might think about this supposed hunting.
somethingwithturquoise: (so high right now)

Yeah, okay. That very unimpressed glance was just going to get a very unimpressed one back, with Summer shaking her head and trying to decide if she should engage or ignore, but she literally had nothing to do today but paperwork, and she could really be a little shit sometimes, so of course she as going for the first option.

"So," she offered, mustering up her best bright and cheerful and friendly smile, complete with ponytail-tossing tilt of her head, "who pissed in your Cheerios this morning?"

"Oh!"

Summer's eyes widened a little in surprise but mostly some sort of mild delight when the snake emerged, grinning faintly. At least that answered one question she'd had, and put to rest the mild theory she'd been forming that perhaps Fenris was just bulking up for the winter or something, she didn't know, maybe that was something that elves did where he was from, you didn't discount anything around here, and she stopped discounting anything anywhere a long time ago.

"I'm gonna...so, wild guess, but I'm gonna assume that maybe that snake wasn't a snake not too long ago? And you think a mage did it rather than it just being the island being....you know...the island?"

Seivarden made a dismissive gesture. She really had no patience for that sort of lecturing and she was going to just ignore it.

"New pet?"

Seivarden raised an eyebrow. "Are you trying to make sense?"

"Awww," new people were so cute in their cluenessness, "you really haven't been here that long at all, have you? The island does stuff like this all the time, but don't worry, it usually doesn't last that long. I say, give it a week. If your friend's not back to normal by then, maybe then it's time to go bust some mage balls. I'm not sure what the record for longest random animal transformation is, but I doubt it''s ever really that long."

And now she had to stop and think which friend of Fenris would be large, green, and scaly.

"....Fjord?" she guessed, half-worried that was almost too obvious.

"It's a very common phrase," Summer informed her, shaking her head again. "It basically means you look like your day's been shit and just keeps getting worse, and I asked this time because you pretty much always seem to look like that all the time."

She almost wanted to ask if it had anything to do with how quiet it'd been around the second floor of MHA, but 1) gross, she didn't want to know and 2) it was Tuesday, and she didn't want to jinx her good luck lately by stirring any pots.

Okay, so the concern there just amped this whole thing up from cute to freaking adorable, and Summer smiled faintly.

"He'll be fine," she offered reassuringly. "Maybe a little pissed off the first few days, because I'm assuming this is probably a first for him, too, but he'll probably change back to normal just as he's starting to get used to it. Which, by the way, might want to keep a change of clothes on hand for him; some people change back with their clothes, but most people don't, and I'm not going to assume anything about your comfort levels around each other, but I imagine it's just one less thing to worry about in the chaos of a change. Also, we've got space heaters at the store; I can totally let you guys borrow one for a while, just set that up, he'll stay all nice and toasty until this whole thing blows over.

"And then booze for you, maybe," she added thoughtfully, "as you try to deal with the whole ohmygod my friend turned into a snake and there's literally nothing I can do to change or fix it because it's just a thing that's out of my control and I literally cannot deal, or whatever."

Not that she was saying Fenris was the type, no, not at all, shush.

"Yeah, well, this place is so cheerful," Seivarden said. "I'm so happy I'm stuck here."

She should escape this conversation as soon as possible.
somethingwithturquoise: (sweet cute smile)

Summer nodded, the smile that she offered nothing but pure sympathy, and if she knew Fenris better, she might have patted his shoulder or something, so the thought was there. "I'll grab it and drop it off at the lobby desk for you guys as soon as I head out of here," she offered, and she would definitely throw in a complimentary bottle, yes, just because she could. "But, yeah, do what you need to do, but just try not too worry too much. Not yet, anyway."

Seivarden just gave a nod in reply, then looked around, deciding on a table too far away to make conversation easy.

So, Fenris was now in the category of lecturing people. She had had enough of those, and she happened to live with one.
