The stereo was playing lullabies. Breq didn't mind, the melodies were nice and soothing and she hummed along until she found herself yawning. To combat sleepiness she began to take inventory of the CDs, but it didn't take long until she was yawning again, and she knew she needed more upbeat music.
The stereo refused to change the playlist. Breq made herself a pot of tea, and even after finishing it, she ended up asleep, her head resting on the counter.
