The Warehouse What is Basically Kanan's Now, Friday Afternoon
So, Rosa had asked him on Tuesday if she could make use of his warehouse for her next class, and Kanan, in turn, had mentioned that he'd try to get mats in by Tuesday next. So, instead of training while he waited for people today, he was making his way around the place, making certain he'd gotten rid of anything outright dangerous (he had) and then sitting and waiting for a delivery of a bunch of mats he'd finally cracked and ordered. Not enough to cover the entire floor by any means, no, but enough of those flat blue things that connected together by velcro to create a decent amount of space to spar in.
And then he was busying himself with other things. Making sure the first-aid kit on the wall was where it could be easily spotted, making certain everything in it was clearly labelled in High Gal-- er, English so that people using it would know what the hell to do with the things inside. Setting out the bamboo swords a little more neatly than usual, in case students wanted to make use of them.
Putting the sharpened steel up and away in a rafter where you'd need a good Force Leap to be able to retrieve them. Sorry, students, those ones were his.
Anyway, he was here, he was busy, he was... really broke, after getting those mats, but overall, he was completely interruptable.

And, as usual, there was a Kanan answering the phone!
"Hey, Rey!"
So help him, he kind of looked forward to these check-ins.

She was good at that!
no subject
He really wasn't. He had experience with this kind of thing.

He wasn't exactly expecting any great revelations, no, but Space Dad was gonna dad.

He paused just inside the door and looked around. "Huh. You got the mats in. Nice! Anything I can do to help?"
no subject
"Not sure," Kanan chuckled, "jump up and down on them a few times, make sure they're secure?"
He glanced around the warehouse. "Help me find anything that might be unsafe if, say, one of the classes from the school were to come in here and swing some weapons around?"
no subject
"Wait," he blinked, "You're bringing your class here?"
no subject
Or something close to it.

"If they're going to be sparring, remind their teacher that they're going to need pro, even with the mats," Kaidan said lightly, "Maybe also make sure they have their tetanus boosters."
He nodded at the crates, "You going to stack those in the back or leave 'em?"

"Before I forget. Brought you back something from Omega, last time I was there."
Inside the box is a Scorpion, and someone thought it was a clever idea to use color-coded thermal clips as packing material.
Because if anyone needed a handgun that fired sticky mines, it was Kanan.

"You got me a gift, huh?" He'd mentioned something along those lines while Kanan had been a cat; he'd forgotten. "You know you didn't need to do that, buddy."

When she got there, though, she wasn't sure what the best protocol for a delivery like this would be. Did she knock? Just come on in? She figured she'd knock on the door, a good loud rattling kind that was pretty easy to hear. It always seemed like a good idea to knock in most situations; you had no idea what you'd wind up walking into otherwise, especially around here.

"Oh, Amaya! Hey, how goes it?"
He was opening the door properly, now, to let her inside.
no subject
Everything was better with swords!
"Meant to get 'em to you a while ago, if I'm honest, but, well, I guess I got caught up. Thankfully, they haven't been sitting around too long, at least."
no subject
He made a reach for one of them, picking it up to test it in his hand, and then nodding in satisfaction.
"This is well done, Amaya. Exactly what I need."
no subject
"Figured they might fit the bill," she said. "And, remember, I made them with a mold, so if you find you need more, just let me know, we can whip up another round in just a few days. Might be a good task for my apprentice to pick up."
Would it ever not feel just a little strange and novel that that was a thing she could say now? Probably not, no, but it was still pretty great.
"They should last pretty long, though. Nothing special, but they're sturdy, so unless any of your students really give them a good beating and they're not exposed to the elements too much, they should hold for some time."
no subject
You never knew what the future would bring, after all.

Amaya nodded again, then took a second to look around a bit herself. "So," she said, "this is the warehouse, huh? Pretty nice set-up you've got in here."
no subject
"It's functional," Kanan replied, grinning a little as he surveyed the space. "It keeps the weather off, at least, which was the whole point. Everything else besides that is mostly just a bonus."
