After having tried to contain crawling lights in a box yesterday, Breq was happy to see that today the island offered food. Even the Silence had snagged a few latkes and was happily chewing away in a corner. Breq discovered that meant that its usual habit of inducing silence wasn't working, so she kept feeding it, while the stereo played seasonal music. Things could be worse.
