What had started as a simple holiday party had kind of... evolved. There'd been impromptu warehouse decorating, and then as long as they were doing that already, why not just hold the party here? There were crates wrapped up like presents and lights and tinsel, and maybe glitter on the floor. (Sorry, everyone, you were taking some of the party home with you!) There was also a tree, with a table and chairs that Sabine had dragged over from her own, far less party-suitable warehouse so that people could make ornaments to put on it if they wanted. It was all very festive, considering anyone involved in the running of this whole show had never celebrated any of this holiday stuff before.

There was also the occasional caped chicken. Sabine and Nina had nothing to do with that.

And towards the end of setting up, it occurred to Sabine that she probably could have just asked Kanan to have the party here yesterday and he might've said yes. In her defense, she was very out of practice in asking for permission, and this was all going to be fine anyway.

Breq figured that if Kanan really didn't want students to have a party in his warehouse, he would make sure it didn't happen. As it was happening, she showed up, looking around to see who else was there.

"Hey there," Sabine greeted her. "Thanks for coming."

Astrid was honestly just glad the party happened before she left for California; she would have hated to have missed it, for a multitude of reasons. Just the fact that she was going to a holiday party was enough in itself, but one also co-held by her roommate, who didn't even know anything about the holidays...

So of course she was here, and, considering she was leaving to the land of No Christmas in a couple of days, she was making the most out of it while she could, festively decked in the appropriate colors with a little garland crown wrapped around her head and weaved into a long braid.

If she looked silly, well...she wasn't going to see any of them for two weeks. Possibly never again. So it didn't really bother her.

If Vette was being terribly honest, she was mostly just here because the idea of wandering into some other world's holiday celebration appealed to her... like... a lot. From a purely curious cultural standpoint, mostly.

... And there was eggnog. She was also here for the eggnog. But she was here all the same.

This was possibly the first party Norman had been invited to in his life, Summer's catch-all events notwithstanding. Of course he was going to show.

Kind of tentatively. Maybe he was braced to find himself a corner to hang out in quietly. That was like partying, right?

"I like the look," Sabine told her.

Norman wasn't really an artist, but folded paper and scissors could still make a mean snowflake, so that's where he ultimately set himself up, cutting out a few to put on the tree.

See Kanan. See Kanan feel inexplicably antsy, and think maybe he could work off some of that excess energy with a few lightsaber forms.

See Kanan take two steps into his warehouse. Sigh. And then turn around and walk right back out again.

Nope.

"So we don't seem to be in trouble," Sabine said, optimistically.

So far.

"Because this plan was excellent," Vette replied. "And the place looks great. I mean, wrapping the crates up like big gifts? Stroke of genius."

Yeah, Prompto wasn't missing this thing for anything.

"OOooooh," he gushed, "I love what you've done to the place!"

Of course, he didn't know what the place looked like before, but he had a sneaking suspicion it wasn't quite...this.

Lana was interested to see what this would be like, and a party sounded fun anyway, so here she was.

Grinning at Sabine. "Are you one of the ones to thank for the decor, then?"

Although he'd never admit it, Sidon was rather pleased to hear that this event would be held in the nice, spacious warehouse rather than the common room, which, while not small by any means, still always felt a little cramped for him. And how could he not be positively delighted by the decorations as well? It was clear that they were in for a wonderfully festive evening!

...he did worry a little about the caped cuccos running around, though, being very careful to watch his step and not inadvertently tread on any of them. A flock of disgruntled cuccos was certainly nothing to cluck about!

"Thanks for the invitation," Breq replied. "Nice decorations."

"Thanks," Astrid smiled faintly, fidgeting maybe a little with the end of her braid draped over her shoulder before she caught herself and promptly stopped. "I figured I should make the most of it while I still could, but, I mean..."

Her eyes made a wide, pointed pass around the warehouse. "You guys...really brought it out for this, didn't you?"

"It wasn't my idea, but I gave it some direction," Sabine admitted. "How'd we do?"

"If one of those touches you, do you start bragging?" Sabine teased. Because Fandom was ridiculous this week.

"Thanks. We had fun, and it wasn't too bad for doing it all in the middle of the night." There were a couple things she'd fixed today.

"Well... originally it was going to be the dorms, and then Nina and Vette decided they wanted to decorate, so we figured we might as well just have it here."

Again, permission, Sabine. You could have even sent a text this morning.

"And it's easy to take down," she said. "I feel like setting up for this is really fun to put up every year, and terrible to get rid of."

"Oh? A surprise for Kanan too?" Breq said. "Anyway, thanks for organizing this. I think everyone needed a party."

Not her, obviously, she was a ship, but it was nice to see people happy.
