Somewhere on the way into town- Thursday morning

There wasn't really a reason to go to work. Anyone who was going out in this much snow to get weapons was probably already someone who had weapons. But Sabine was bored and didn't want to just hang out, so she figured she could at least try to get some more stuff for the dorms.

This was fun. This was a decision she was definitely glad she made. She didn't regret this at allllll.

Two snow monsters (one carrying a placard that read "GLOBAL WARMING IS REAL") lurched along a side street just ahead of Sabine. They were so focused on the generator that were trying to destroy that they hadn't noticed her.

Yet.

Sabine stopped when she noticed them. Maybe it was a Fandom thing, maybe it was some poor townie who'd been out in the snow for a very, very long time, but either way she adjusted the settings on her helmet so she could zoom in.

...Huh.

So, she unholstered one of her pistols and fired a warning shot into the snow near them.

The snow monsters whirled in her direction, mouths open in snarls that revealed sharp, icicle teeth.

And then they charged, throwing snowballs as they came.

Okay! Not people from town!

What happened if she shot one in the head with her blaster?

You know, you could hole up through the worst snowstorm you'd ever encountered in a ship as well-equipped as the Ghost, but nothing was going to change the fact that your dog was still going to want to go out to relieve himself.

And so Kanan had Stance out with him, sticking to streets that had seen a little cover from the drifting snow, because the last thing he needed was to lose a mostly white dog in a snow bank while snow monsters were trying to kill them.

In his other hand, of course, was a lit lightsaber. And you had better believe he was soaked to the elbow on his lightsaber arm already.

"Stance," he muttered, "can you just do your business so we can go back inside, already?"

"Really?" Sabine greeted them.

That was mostly directed at Stance.

"He wasn't having any of the idea of staying in today," Kanan lamented, turning Sabine's way. "And he thinks the snow monsters are friends."

Because of course he did.

Of course he did.

"I don't suppose there's a way to teach him that things with icicle teeth are not your friend?" she asked.

Lana waved as she saw Sabine. Well, felt someone in the Force before she actually saw her, because this snow was insane.

She was very, very glad Sparkle had talked her into enough warm clothes.

"This is ridiculous! Remind me why I wanted to be out here again?"

"Hoth practice," Sabine reminded her. "Have you seen the monsters yet?"

"Right." Lana rolled her eyes. "Monsters? No, what sorts?"

"Snowmen with teeth," she said. "Took care of some with my blasters. They were trying to break a generator."

Oh! Oh! Stance knew this person! From when he was really small! Randomly! In between being big times! She had been small too, but that wasn't stopping him from trotting over to greet her. The snow didn't seem to bother him at all.

"Force help me," Kanan muttered, blue blade illuminating where he was in the snow, "Stance, don't pester people when they're fighting."

"Fighting?" Lana squinted over at Kanan and nodded at his lightsaber. "Should I be fighting?"

She was getting her lightsaber out, but she hadn't seen the snowmonsters yet.

"You should be ready to be fighting," Kanan replied, giving her a terse nod of his head as Stance pranced around her. "The snow isn't playing around anymore, apparently."

"Come at me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Nina challenged, bright-eyed and delighted at the monster invasion.

This was amazing! And if she kept moving, she stayed warm!

"I'll show you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Would a spotty dog coming at her be amazing too? There was a somewhat exasperated bus driver guy jogging along behind him, lightsaber aglow in his hand, if that helped.

"Stance. Sit!"

Stance didn't wanna sit. Stance wanted to meet the people!

Kanan was going to have to get a leash for this guy. Honestly, buddy.

"Ohmygosh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hi, cutie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Hey, Nina was willing to get sidetracked from war by a puppy, absolutely!

Grumpy bus guy was seen but, ugh, puppy first!

Lookit that cutie's tail go! Hi person! Hi! Hi hi hi!

Kanan just kind of stood back and rolled his eyes skyward.

"His name is Stance. And he's ridiculous."

"At least someone's having fun," Sabine notes.

"Sabine!!!!!!!!!!!" Nina spun, grinning at the other girl. "Isn't this great?!?!?!?!?!"

"It's more exciting than what I'd be doing otherwise," she allowed.

And here came a couple of snow monsters! One was wielding a pointy tipped placard that read "FIRST THEY CAME FOR THE SCIENTISTS AND THE PARK SERVICE WAS ALL 'LOL NO' AND I WAS NOT EXPECTING THAT?" which was funny, but it was using it like a jousting spear, so that was less so.

"Rude!!!!!!!!!" Nina protested, laughing and waving her bookbelt at the snowmen threateningly. She was not particularly concerned about their advance. "What do you think you're trying to do to a lady with that???????"

Um. Skewer you, obvs. The snow monster waved the sign back just as threateningly, then bared its icicle teeth.
