It was bitterly cold, and dark and that last snow monster had clocked Steve in the head with a placard hard enough to have him see stars. He staggered back into the community center, shaking it off.

"Everyone okay in here? Warm enough?"

At least there's no oatmeal? Someone had to have brought booze in by now.

"Warm enough," Hannibal agreed.

He looked up at Steve and waved him toward the fire. "Sit over here, let me take a look at that."

"Oh, it'll be fine in a minute," Steve demurred.

Hannibal eyed him closely. "It actually will heal, or you'll be able to convince yourself it doesn't matter?"

On this island, it could be either.

"I'll heal," Steve said. "Part of the whole 'perfect soldier' schtick."

"In that case, come site by the fire and get warm. Coffee and cake?" he offered.

"That sounds wonderful, thank you," Steve said.

There was no oatmeal, but there was a sakotis. It was Christmas, this was a simple recipe meant for cooking over a fire, and Hannibal was feeling defiant about holding onto old memories this time of year.

So he was working on these over the evening. Hope everybody likes cake!
