The beach, Saturday night

The weather wasn't too bad, the holidays were over, and there were new people in town. Clearly, they needed a new meeting of the drunk and bored club!

Miguel showed up, dumped his case of decent beer in the sand, and set about making a nice big fire.

If anybody showed up, he'd be ready!

If not, he could always just drink the beer.

Fenris could see the fire from where he was and, since he'd only ever seen a fire on the beach for the drunk and bored club, he ducked into Costco and picked up some cheap but decent whiskey, bourbon, and a six pack of something that looked like a soft drink. That's basically what wine coolers were, right?

He prowled on over, actually wearing shoes instead of his usual barefoot theme, and added his alcohol to the pile. "Miguel. Bored?"

"Always." Miguel toasted him with a beer. "Not drunk yet, though. How about you?"

"Always bored, stone cold sober at the moment," Fenris said and cranked the top off the bourbon so he could toast Miguel back. And work on the sober part. "But that can be fixed. Are you teaching this term?"

"Science," Miguel said, "yeah. Seem to have a good group of kids, though. What are you up to - still over at the flower shop?"

Fenris nodded, "Yes. There's not a lot of call for the other job skills I have and the flowers and plants are pretty forgiving. Peter is very patient." He took a swig and made a face, "The closest thing I've had to a fight in months were snowmen."

"Ugh, those things." Miguel had not been a fan.

"What kind of fight are you looking for?"

Fenris pulled a face. He hadn't been a fan, either. "The freezing weather they brought with them put m..Peter's shop pet in danger," he grouched, "We had to go through the cold to get him."

Had to. You know. No other choice. It wasn't as if he liked the kittenwillow.

"The useful kind would be that," Fenris said a moment later, "Barring that, a good sparring session is never unappreciated. Fjord and I catch them when we can."

Miguel nodded. "You could ask around. Maybe Amaya would know? I'd be willing, but I don't use a sword."

"My blade has a bad habit of cutting through other blades," Fenris noted just a little sourly. He didn't mind it in battle but it made it a bitch to spar. Fjord's blade didn't break. Zack's hadn't. Kanan's weird light blade hadn't and he'd been surprised that Fenris' blade hadn't.

"It's not the only sparring we do, but a fistfight can be found at any local bar except Caritas," Fenris noted. "Though mostly that's just brutes with no skill."

Fjord was here, naturally. As co-founder of the club, it really wouldn't do for him to not be.

And, as was to be expected, he'd brought beer.

The less decent kind. Less because he didn't know any better at this point, and more because it was really just to be expected.

He did bring a decent bottle of whiskey to make up for it, though. He figured if he worked his way through it, that could keep his mind off of the fact that it was only one day since he'd told Fenris he'd try to stop filing his tusks, and already he was crawling out of his own skin about it.

Miguel shrugged. "I mostly jump around a lot and bash heads together."

"Hey, Fjord!" Miguel held up a bottle of beer in a toast. "How've you been?"

"That, too," Fenris agreed, "and turn insubstantial just to fuck with people who think they can hit me."

Fenris gave him a sour look. "You bought shit beer again?"

And here was Fenris to take his mind off his teeth!

"Thankful that I don't have to hear the word 'Christmas' for another full year," Fjord replied easily, setting his box of beer down and then raising the whiskey in greeting. "People weren't kidding when they said this place went all-out for the holiday."

"Well, yeah," Fjord replied, smirking a little. "By this point, it's tradition."

Wouldn't want anybody to mistake him for somebody with standards, right?

"I will open it and pour it into the sand before I let you bring it back to the room," Fenris declared, and added, "Besides, there's no room in the fridge right now. You filled it with spaghetti."

"Filled it with spaghetti to save the fridge from terrible beer. You're welcome, Fenris."

Fjord was basically a hero.

He fluttered his lashes and clutched a hand over his heart and went right on echoing the narrative. "My hero!"

Since the first meeting she'd been expecting had gotten derailed by snow monsters, Beau had been kind of waiting for this.

She had a couple of bottles of her new favorite, tequila, and a couple of bottles of reasonably priced but pretty good wine -- which was easy enough to pick out when you'd grown up around the winemaking industry.

"Hey, Fjord!"

No, parkouring over that rock wasn't strictly necessary, but come on; of course Beau was going to do that, bottle of beer in hand and everything, the little showoff.

"Yeah, I kinda forgot what day your class was so I didn't make it up this week, but how'd it go?"

"Beau," Fenris greeted her. "How are you?"
