Kanan's Warehouse, Friday Morning and Afternoon

Kanan was doing that thing again. That thing where he showed up at the warehouse early in the morning on Friday to get some solo training in before people inevitably started showing up come the afternoon. Today he was splitting his time pretty evenly, figuring he'd get a few hours of meditation in for the morning, and then he'd switch to running through forms with his lightsaber a couple of hours before people started arriving, so that he'd be in a mindset for that sort of thing already.

The fact that he was trying to reach out even farther than usual into the Force with his meditations this morning or that he was going a little bit extra with the Force leaps and other assorted acrobatics - at least from a half-trained Padawan perspective - had nothing to do with him being slightly intimidated at the prospect of spending time later with... you know... basically a small army of people who were Masters in their own right.

Also, shut up. It was important training anyway.

Thanks to her current deal, Rey was actually calling earlier than normal, because she wanted to be able to do this while she was alone and didn't have to explain the phone to anyone.

Ring, ring.

Kanan cracked open one eye, pulling himself back from his meditation, and listened to it ring for a moment. He hadn't been meditating that long, had he?

Well. Now he was faintly concerned as he answered the phone.

"Rey? You okay?"

Oh no, he was becoming a creature of habit or something.

"Yeah," she said, a little surprised by that. "Why?"

"Your call came early," Kanan replied, sounding a little sheepish. "Had to make sure."

Awkward.

"So... how goes things?"

"Yeah, sorry. I have to call before my new partners get here."

She sounded thrilled!

Breq had thought about stopping by the warehouse on a Friday for a while. Today she showed up after classes, stopping in the doorway to watch Kanan, not that she expected him to be unaware of her presence.

Another leap, and then Kanan was planting his feet and turning toward Breq with a little grin, shutting off his lightsaber all in the same motion.

"This place is getting to be popular on Fridays," he said, amused. "Hey, Breq."

"So I hear," Breq said, moving into the room. "I came to join the sword club."

There was a lot of irony in that comment even if it didn't show on her face. Breq trusted Kanan would pick that up anyway.

Kanan gave a little snort of amusement, even!

"Yeah, you can see how it's a very busy club," he chuckled, shaking his head and waving around the otherwise empty warehouse. "Space. I even told her it isn't one."

Honestly, Seivarden!

"But you're more than welcome to pick up a practice sword, if you'd like to follow along."

"Best to ignore it," Breq said, internally amused. "I'd actually be interested. I haven't tried a sword in a very long time, and never for anything but entertainment."

Kaidan showed up for his regularly scheduled sword practice and just kind of paused to watch Kanan jump around the place like air resistance wasn't even a thing.

"Summer coming by today?" he asked.

"Not sure," Kanan replied. "If she does, I'll do a bit more jumping around, but no. This is just standard training."

... Bouncier than usual standard training.

Kaidan squinted up at him doubtfully. "Since when is this standard?"

"... Since there were going to be multiple Masters on the island at once," Kanan admitted, a little grudgingly.

He had something to prove, today.

Mostly to himself.

"Hello," Breq greeted Kaidan. "I hear you've taken up sword fighting."

She remembered to smile.

"Hey, Breq," Kaidan smiled at her, "Yeah, I practice here. How've you been?"

"Fine, I suppose," Breq said. "I'm not complaining. And you?"

She she still carried the bamboo sword, and was just taking a break to greet Kaidan.

Summer hadn't necessarily planned on swinging by the warehouse so soon, she kind of wanted to save the whole jumping across the warehouse thing for a really bad day when she needed a guaranteed pick-me-up, because seriously, but she was literally the only one not doing anything today, so why the heck not? she had a covered dish with her containing a class-inspired jello mold that was definitely going to get pretty gross pretty quick if she didn't foist it on someone who'd actually eat it. It was entirely his fault, anyway, so it only seemed fair that the honor should got to BDG.

So there she was, coming on in, having a look around the place and just figuring she'd let him finish up what he was working on, especially since now she knew more than ever that he'd be able to tell she was there, and almost thought of making faces at him until he did.

Okay, she may have gone ahead and tried a few faces, yes.

... And a step, a slash downward with the humming blade of the saber, a parry, a thrust, and, true to form, there went Kanan, giving a leap.

To land not far from Summer at all, smirking as he shut off his blade and twisted it into its two component parts.

"So, you decided to swing by, huh?"

"And you decided to show off," Summer retorted with a snort, shaking her head, but she was grinning. Because, really, it was okay. He kind of earned the chance to show off whenever he could.

"I brought jello," she said, holding up the container, "and this one's all your fault, thanks to class yesterday. More than enough for you and Hera, but it should probably be eaten quick. I'm not sure how long I'd trust the blue milk custard part."

"You'd hardly be the first person to accuse me of being a showoff," Kanan replied easily, clipping the two halves of his blade to his belt. "You would, however, be the first one to do so while bearing jello. Did you say you used blue milk custard in that?"

... It wasn't hard to get his attention that way, no.

Lana dropped by in the afternoon and watched for a second. His Soresu was better, but she didn't have much of a leg to stand on; the acrobatics really weren't her thing.

Whereas he didn't tend to throw in much in the way of Force throws. Something he'd grow a little more accustomed to, in time.

"Lana," he said, once he turned her way. "Hey there, come on in."

Lana came in and stepped closer. "Mind if I join you? I have managed to bastardize my lightsaber." Sigh.

"I'm hardly about to change my mind about it now," Kanan replied, turning a faintly amused look at her. "May I have a look at it before we get started?"

Not that he didn't trust you, Lana. But, you know. First time 'bastardizing' a lightsaber and all. Better safe than sorry.
