Kanan's Warehouse, Friday Morning and Afternoon
It felt kind of weird to be getting back into the swing of things on the island again after a week of travel. Even after a few years around here, Kanan's mind kept falling back into old habits, where a change of scenery meant a change of pace, meant something new and whatever it was that he'd needed to be in the last place in order to get by was long behind him.
And that was the point he was choosing to meditate on this morning as he took a seat on the floor of the warehouse.
In the afternoon, it would be lightsaber training as usual. His morning was going to be spent remembering how to be a Jedi in the first place.
Again.

At least she was back to around her normal timing.

"Afternoon, Rey," Kanan greeted, shaking himself out of his meditation. "How go things this week?"

She'd jumped right back into old habits upon getting back to Jakku, this was new to her.

"It's nice to sleep in my own bed again and spend time with my dog and not have to sit on a bus for hours on end every day wondering if one of the students is going to launch himself over a waterfall once we get to where we're going," Kanan offered. "So yeah, I'd say it's good to be back, even if there's an adjustment period there."

"In a barrel," Kanan agreed. "Repeatedly. Once for every waterfall he could get away with."
no subject
She'd be more impressed if she knew what a waterfall was actually like.

"I'm mostly just thankful we don't have to worry about that anymore. Just regular, everyday Beaker things."
It was a miracle the kid was still alive. Whatever Beaker had going for him, Kanan wanted in on that.
He'd make a ridiculous Muppet.

He walked over to pick out his preferred sword and went to a clear area to begin practicing.

"It's not a bad routine to have," Kanan offered, glancing up at Kaidan and smiling a bit wryly. "Actually, I'm not setting aside nearly enough time for meditating, overall."
He pulled himself to his feet.
"... I am taking a little longer to get used to being back on the island than I'd like, though."

Kaidan processed that and asked, "Miss all the waterfalls? Don't try to make one. I have it on good authority that Jedi should not, under any circumstances, attempt to build waterfalls."
That whole thing would never not be funny. Not ever.

That... mostly just earned a confused squint.
Somewhere, Sparkle was laughing hysterically and didn't even know why.

"... Master Mical... had a waterfall?"
Kanan was now torn, Kaidan. Because on the one hand, that sounded like a fantastic story. On the other hand, asking Atton would involve... you know. Asking Atton.

Kaidan idly wondered whether this was a question that was going to have Kanan go into teacher mode or make the little veins in his forehead throb but he felt it was a legitimate question and he honestly wanted to know.

Kanan blinked.
".... I guess for all the records he kept, he never recorded a last name for himself," he mused. "But then, most of his histories don't even have that, it's The Disciple." He smiled wryly. "And he didn't correct 'Master Mical,' so I guess..."
He shrugged.
"Your guess is as good as mine."
Legitimate question! Or, at least, he was going to treat it as such.
no subject
He couldn't really see Mical referring to himself as 'The Desciple'. Though he could, without any effort at all, hear Atton calling him that. Hadn't, though. Atton had never called him anything but Mical. The only person he'd given a title to .. had not been Mical.

He worked the forms some more and then changed the subject. "Guess I'm starting self-defense classes for Hernando and Sparkle tomorrow. They got jacked while they were in New York."

He spread his hands a little, then pulled his lightsaber from his belt and assembled it.
"It was bad enough to kick them into gear for self-defense lessons, clearly."
