Astrid was not at all surpsied to find that Apu had set things up for a sale for the weekend, though she had kind of wished he'd waited until she'd come in before putting up a sign. His sign was fine, of course, but Astrid's sense of modesty was not so powerful to prevent her from knowing that the sign she'd have made would have been much, much better. It did get the point across, though:

But even though the point was pretty clear (and she hoped he programmed that percentage into the register because she was not going to look forward to having to work 17% out herself), Astrid was in the sort of mood that had her hounding him with seemingly innocent, naive questions.

"So, anything that's green? So, like, lettuce is on sale right now? If I want a pack of thumbtacks, is it only the green ones on sale, or the whole package? What if I'm colorblind? Does it still count if it looks green, but only to me? What if someone just buys green spray paint and then turns everything else green just for the discount?"

...and this, Astrid, was exactly why Apu didn't care for you very much.
