The Perk- Wednesday morning

Kitty had just intended to run out for coffee and pick some paperwork up from Caritas and go home, but fit some reason she ended up getting a cup and sitting down to enjoy it for a while. Clint wouldn't mind, right? She'd still bring coffee back later.

She was also pretty sure she saw one of the barista's clothes change suddenly, but that was probably nothing. Or Kitty was too used to weirdness to be a valid judge of it anymore.

Steve came in looking sad. "Hey, Kitty."

Kitty, suddenly fifteen, looked over at him curiously. "Hey. What's wrong?"

"Well, I keep turning into a girl, for one thing," Steve said with a sigh as he looked down at his body.

[throughaphase]

"You're pretty, though," Zkitty said, glancing down at her sudden wedding dress.

"Aww, thanks," Steve said, giving her an insincere smile as turned back into himself. "I need coffee. Think Tony has drunk most of what we had in the apartment and is probably vibrating off the walls right now."

""Isn't that a normal day?" Kitty smiled, pushing up her glasses.

"Well, yes," Steve admitted from under his helmet. "But he's stressed about it more today."

"Is he going through this, too?" Kitty asked, confounded and annoyed.

"Yep," Steve confirmed, suddenly switching into an entirely different uniform. "And we had to teach class today. You know how Tony gets when he can't control everything."

"I get it," Kitty moped. "I mean, I get it. You just never know what's going to happen next. It's hard to plan..."

"Exactly," Steve said in yet another uniform, sketching from the floor like some kind of weirdo.

"And you can't even just hide and wait for it to go away. I turned into a miniature version of the school for a second. And then a picnic basket."

"How were you a school?" Kitty asked, and considered it. "I mean, fiiiine, I guess that's kind of fun to hear about?"

"I have absolutely no idea," Steve said, now entirely shirtless.

"Clint would be so uncomfortable with this right now," Kitty worried.

He probably wouldn't, actually.

"This is probably some kind of workplace violation," Steve fretted as his sleeveless undershirt appeared.

And a towel, sure.

Why wasn't there coffee?!

"This island is having fun with you today," Kitty noted.

Her glasses were on again, the better to see him with?

"Yeah, but what can you do, right?" Steve replied, laughing.

"I'm sorry," Kitty said, trying not to laugh. "You've just changed clothes so many times."

That smedium shirt was at least what he usually wore?

Steve, age 9, grinned up at her. "Yeah. At least I don't have to do all it as laundry, right?"

"That would be the worst," Kitty said dryly.

...and now he was a piece of wall.

From where she was in her bathing suit, Kitty said, "Nkw I see how you could be a school."

"Right?" Steve said, back in the wifebeater. "It's disconcerting."

"When do we start worrying about what kind of effect this has on us?" Kitty said, concerned.

Steve sniffled. "I dunno. Maybe tomorrow?"

"Are you upset again?" Kitty asked.

[heroic_jawline]

"Apparently?" Steve said from behind his shield. "These mood swings are exhausting."

"It could be worse," Kitty said, again in her bathing suit. "At least this is probably just for the day."

"Yay," Steve said, beaming from beneath a World War II helmet.

[throughaphase]

"I mean, I guess," Kitty sulked. "Who even knows."

"Certainly not me," Steve said from back under his shield.

Kitty, naturally, crouched down to hug him.

It was awkward with the shield.

Steve peered out, all doe-eyed, from behind the shield. "Aww, hugging? Thanks!"

Kitty was suddenly distracted by a...

...a meta comic that she and Wolverine were reading together.

"I don't know how to explain this," she said.

Well, good thing that Steve's shirt had disappeared again in front of this stranger!

"Yeah, me either," Steve said, waving to the new guy. "...hi."

Luckily???? he was gone a moment later, because then he got to miss her kissing Steve???

Which really was just going to make things weird all the way around.

Steve disengaged immediately, eyes sad and serious. "I'm sure you didn't mean that."

Was this a terrible time for Kitty to be a teenager again?

"You know what, maybe I should go?"

To her husband who was his teammate?

Oh, God, please don't be a teenager when he kisses you...

"No, don't go just yet--"

Kitty apparently was not impressed. SORRY STEVE.

"Yeah, time to go," she said. "I'll see you literally any other day but today."

"Absolutely understood," Steve said, back in full Cap gear. "Gonna go home and...lock myself in a bathroom or something."
