Turtle & Canary; Friday [03/29].
It was a day to mark you calendars, folks, because Astrid and Apu were...actually getting along that Friday, and without any particular effort on either of their parts, for that matter.
It had started when she came in and saw him working on something a little different than his usual stuff and he was glad when she came in because that would mean he'd have an audience for the magic trick he'd been practicing. Apparently, it was for Smoke and Mirrors Day (the real trick, Astrid figured, would be him convincing her that that was an actual thing), and he'd spent the better part of the week preparing various illusions to show off to people as they came into the store. And to Astrid as well.
And Astrid had to admit...that hard work paid off, these were actually pretty good, and she laughed a little and had him perform them again so she could try to figure out just how he managed to pull it off. "And," she checked, "it's not, like, actual magic, either?" Because that was a thing here, after all. "They're really tricks? Okay. Do the card one again, I think I've almost got it figured out."
By the end of the day, she'd have mastered a few of them under his tutelage, even.
That was probably the real magic in it all.
