Community Center Class: Modern Earth Entertainment, Monday

Peter waved at everybody as they arrived. "This next one today is based on a series of books that have been really popular for a while. When it was released, the movie was groundbreaking for its attempts at bringing them to the screen and for its effects. Keep in mind it comes from a world that doesn't have any of these races or any well-known magic, so this is all fantasy for them, and probably not a lot like the reality. Hopefully it's enough that you might all be able to follow along, though. If it's too far away...popcorn at the screen is always an option."

The introduction over, he pressed play.

Amaya had just about nearly worked straight on through movie class today. She'd woken up that morning with quite an itch that didnt seem to want to be scratched, the kind of thing that a long day of forging and beating metal was usually able to chase off. Not today, apparently, and, stubborn and determined as she was, she wanted to just keep at it until she was too tired to keep on.

But...movie class. And she'd missed last week and didn't get to even see the end of the one the week before. She really didnt want to miss another one, so she stopped, cleaned up a bit, and headed over, not feeling a whole lot better and slightly irritable besides, despite all her best efforts.

She may have bruised over the popcorn a little longer than usual, too, as she found herself thinking (and maybe muttering under her breath a touch) about how she was going to be really sore especially if they wound up with mush today. She was in no mood to handle mush.

See, now, and for someone what was all too aware of what was going on (though she might not exactly realize it yet), that smile, typical and downright expected as it was, was entirely unfair. But when Amaya looked up from the food and caught that smile in question, the first thing she thought was how she really did not spend enough time appreciating just how pretty Peter was.

And then she stopped to swiftly correct herself. No. She usually spent just the right amount of time appreciating how pretty Peter was, which was to say, hardly any time at all, so if her brain could just go right on back to that, she'd appreciate it.

...but zounds...

So forgive her if the smile back was a little uncertain and sheepish. And her cheeks a little red.

Too much time at the forge. Gave her that ruddiness to her complexion. You know, the one that seemed to come and go on a whim...

"Glad I could make it, too," she said, words she'd not only be eating but feasting on later. "Especially since it sounds like I missed a good one last week. Seems I was a bit too busy trying to protect all my weapons from the hordes of people who didn't at all show up to take them."

Amaya nodded. "Got it in one," she said. "Someone small and scrappy and willing to pick a fight with anyone who breathed funny. Scratch that: anyone who breathed. Don't know if Seivarden told you about someone making an attempt to kick her head off that weekend, but, if she did...that was me."

She grinned a little wryly; since no one really got hurt, it was kind of hard to feel too bad about it, really.

"Thought I was running around with an organization called the Foot Clan. Foot Clan!" She snorted a laugh. "Now, you tell me if that's not one of the worst names for an evil organization you've ever heard!"

"The shop, the weapons, Seivarden, all in one piece," Amaya nodded again, "so it most certainly did, and myself back to normal, as well."

Which was categorically untrue, she realized, as that little started creeping around underneath her skin again and she shifted a little, cleared her throat a bit, tried to ignore as best she could like she'd been doing all day. Not normal in the slightest, really, but she wasn't about to go and mention it.

"Been wanting to ask after the title of that dragon movie from the other week that I didn't have a chance of finishing, too," she added, "on account of being a rabbit."

With a hastily leaving caretaker.

"Never quite understood the throwing popcorn thing," Amaya said, throwing herself right into just unassuming, pleasant conversation in a blatant attempt to just ignore that itch making itself worse. "Seems like just a waste of good popcorn. It's usually spoiled vegetables where I'm from, rotten tomates and the like, since no one's going to miss those except maybe for mulch, but I'd hate to stick you with having to clean that all up.

"You were right, though," she added, with a faint smile of her own and her cheek inexpicably warming up on her. "I did rather like it, even if it didn't seem t be much of a hit with anyone else. And I've been wanting to know how it all ended up ever since."
