Luke's, Sunday
Kanan was squinting at the specials board today, yes.
"I mean, I guess it's thematic for the weekend," he noted, "but how are those any different from regular pancakes?"
Today's Specials:
Mortarboard Pancakes
Congratulations, Graduates of 2019!
Apparently they were square.
Alrighty then.

Eloquent, as always, was Jack.

In reply, Kanan just scoffed a laugh, reached for the book tucked away in a pouch on his belt, and tossed it at her.
"This," he replied. "I'm teaching this."
It looked charming enough, anyway?
no subject
He was not, it appeared, joking.
She began thumbing through the pages. Her lips twitched. The smile broke through. Then she began to giggle. "Oh shit.. Oh shit, Kanan this is kind of fucking perfect for you. Holy crap."
Finding a quote, she intoned it at him with as much seriousness as she could muster while still giggling. “The surest way to become Tense, Awkward, and Confused is to develop a mind that tries too hard - one that thinks too much.”
Gleefully finding more, she recited those too. “The wise know their limitations; the foolish do not.”
“I think, therefore I am... confused.”
“No matter how useful we may be, sometimes it takes us a while to recognize our own value.”
You're not getting that book back until she's read the whole thing, Kanan.
"Oh god, buddy, the Moose did a good job with this one."

Kanan just kind of snorted and smirked, pausing to reach for Jack's breakfast as it came up and setting it down in front of her before leaning back against the wall with his arms crossed over his chest, amused.
"I'm not completely convinced the moose isn't trying to tell me something, here," he admitted.
no subject
"Oh, I definitely think he's trying to tell you something," Jack confirmed, "but.. I mean as much as I'm teasing you, ickle, this isn't terrible shit."
High praise from her. "You could stand to read this and some of the kids will definitely benefit from learning it. Like the 'don't try to fit a square peg into a round hole' shit. You can do that with a big enough mallet but then you've ruined the square peg forever."
That last part wasn't in the book, that was just a Jack-ism. It also happened to be true.
no subject
"Mm," Kanan agreed. "There's a whole section in there about just being who you are that... hell, I probably could stand to read a few more times, admittedly."
It was an interesting lesson for someone who still wasn't completely certain who he was, half the time.

"No," Kanan laughed, shaking his head. "I'd have to know yoga to teach yoga. Living in the moment and accepting the world for what it is, though? That's been fed to me for half my life. I can handle that."

"Just what yoga class needs," Kanan replied, still amused. "Me, of all people. I'll show up in knee-high leather boots with a blaster strapped to my hip, I'm sure I'll fit right in."
The blaster was non-negotiable.

Guess who was going to be doing morning yoga someday soon. Guess!
no subject
"Are there even yoga classes on the island?"
Kanan was asking the important questions now, clearly.
The potentially damning ones, granted. Answers to this one meant he could potentially end up getting dragged off somewhere to learn regardless, after all.

"I can actually follow far too many words in that sentence," Kanan noted, shaking his head a little. "And now I'm afraid."

"The whole mental image you've just painted is basically Summer," Kanan replied, shrugging. "But telling me how to rearrange my legs and breathe in order to..."
He paused.
"I'm not actually sure what the goal is."

no subject
"Huh," Kanan replied. Did he actually look thoughtful, there? He did! "Okay, so I might be able to make use of that, yeah."
no subject
She took a drink of coffee and added, "Also that it might make our favorite shithead less twitchy."
no subject
Kanan considered that, too.
"Less twitchy about me, or he could use a few yoga lessons himself?"
'Both' was a totally legitimate reply, here.
no subject
She figured he did.
no subject
"Yeah, I know," Kanan replied, smiling crookedly. "I guess for the sake of putting Kaidan's head to rights, I'm willing to give it a shot, sure."
no subject
... she didn't figure he'd care if she did.
no subject
Kanan shrugged.
"So I am considering myself lucky," he reported. "Can't be much worse than whatever you're going to make me wear to go dancing, can they?"
no subject
"You tell me."
