The Park, Friday Afternoon
Well... that whole week could have gone worse, Kanan supposed. The itching feeling of dread had more or less faded, which left just the lingering bouts of free-floating trauma around the island that was usual in the wake of this sort of thing.
Which meant it was a Friday as usual for training and the like, though today he'd brought Stance, and he'd made his way to the park rather than the warehouse, letting the pup run free to harangue the ducks while he sat himself down under a tree in the shade, and he read more of that book that the moose had foisted off on him.
He didn't necessarily agree with it all, but he could see some of the wisdom behind it all the same.
There were a few practice swords propped up against the tree, in case anybody was feeling up to training or sparring today, but otherwise... eh. He was more or less just taking it easy this afternoon.
With a book.
About a stuffed bear.

She laughed. "Hello, Stance." She nodded to Kanan, but clearly his hello was coming second.

"Good afternoon, Lana," Kanan greeted her, because he wasn't going to let himself be completely upstaged in the greetings department by his dog. "And how are you today?"

He didn't need the Force to know that much, nah.

"Nothing else," Kanan replied, shaking his head. "The same 'pre-new-term' jitters, but those aren't coming from anywhere in particular, so that's probably just nothing."

"Not unless you've got some in with the moose that I don't," Kanan replied. "I have this feeling that being pushed around by moose is going to be the story of my life, here."
It really was.

"Is the moose very pushy? I haven't seen him much," Lana said. "Couldn't you just ask?"

"I tried to ask for the first summer term off, and see where that got me?" Kanan smiled wryly. "It's all going to be philosophy and bears, this summer. Philosophy and bears."

"Bears generally aren't sentient," Kanan replied.
... Most bears. But Kanan was not teaching about that kind of bear.
"But this book kind of focuses on the philosophy through the lens of some kind of local storybook hero, I think."

"Probably one of the most un-Sithlike philosophies Earth has to offer," he mused. "If I had to guess, anyway. Maybe not. There's some stuff about inner nature that we might even almost be able to agree on, even if we approach it from opposite directions."

He shrugged.
"But of course, because this is Fandom, there's also going to be stuffed toys involved. I don't think that's Tao. That's just the reading material I was handed."

And had been.
For years.
