The Park, Friday Afternoon
Well... that whole week could have gone worse, Kanan supposed. The itching feeling of dread had more or less faded, which left just the lingering bouts of free-floating trauma around the island that was usual in the wake of this sort of thing.
Which meant it was a Friday as usual for training and the like, though today he'd brought Stance, and he'd made his way to the park rather than the warehouse, letting the pup run free to harangue the ducks while he sat himself down under a tree in the shade, and he read more of that book that the moose had foisted off on him.
He didn't necessarily agree with it all, but he could see some of the wisdom behind it all the same.
There were a few practice swords propped up against the tree, in case anybody was feeling up to training or sparring today, but otherwise... eh. He was more or less just taking it easy this afternoon.
With a book.
About a stuffed bear.

Kanan smiled a little smile as he reached for his phone, setting the open book to the side for a moment.
"Afternoon, Rey," he greeted. "How are things?"

Fandom was always where things actually happened.

"Well, vampires attacked the island on Tuesday and so we had to deal with that," Kanan said, with the casual air of a guy who was... mostly just trying to put on a casual air. "But it's a nice day, and new students arrive tomorrow, so overall I'd say we're about breaking even?"

She had actually worried a little, but tried not to make that to obvious to Kanan.

"Busy is one word for it," Kanan agreed, dog-earing a page in his book to mark his place. Because he was a monster. "But things seem to be returning to as close to normal as they get around here. You managed to avoid all the excitement, huh?"

handwavily," Breq said. "In a way good timing, but I wouldn't have minded helping to get rid of those things."She could deal with dog-ears.

"They were an interesting challenge," Kanan noted, nodding a little. "Glad to hear you were safe, though. I'm sure there'll be plenty of picking up to do here in the aftermath."

"Well," Kanan turned a bit of a smile up her way, "looks like yesterday's party saved the day, so there's that. How are you holding up?"
How was that shoulder, Tip?
no subject
It hurt like a bitch, thanks for asking! But she could still use that arm, so she was pretty sure she hadn't done any permanent damage.
Which she showed off with a shrug. "I mean, I'm tired and really embarrassed. But that's pretty much the best case scenario after one of these, so. . . ."
no subject
Kanan hiked up a shoulder of his own, still smiling faintly.
"I won't tell anybody about the door if you don't," he offered. "Besides that, you handled yourself well back there, you know. You didn't freeze up or anything."

"Pfleh! Puppy breath!" Kaidan accused, eventually catching Stance's head and plopping a kiss between his ears. "Hi, buddy. You're having some fun with the ducks, huh?"
no subject
Kanan gave a little chuckle at that.
"You get 'im, buddy," he told Stance, before shooting Kaidan a smirk. "He's been having fun with every duck today. But I haven't had to rescue him or them yet, so I'm calling it a win."
He closed his book, dog-earing the page he was on as he did so, and held it up for Kaidan to see.
"Apparently I'm teaching this, this summer. I suppose if anyone's going to teach the class on inner nature, it's going to be the island's most twitchy Jedi, right?"

"Pretty sure so long as I'm okay with it, you're welcome to," Kanan replied, smirking crookedly. "How much do you enjoy 'hunny?'"

She laughed. "Hello, Stance." She nodded to Kanan, but clearly his hello was coming second.

"Good afternoon, Lana," Kanan greeted her, because he wasn't going to let himself be completely upstaged in the greetings department by his dog. "And how are you today?"

He didn't need the Force to know that much, nah.
