Furricane Animal Shelter; Thursday [05/23].
Well, getting to work today had been an adventure, and Prompto totally made some friends with the gondalier whose boat nearly flipped over when Prompto got maybe a little too excited pointing out some cool fish passing by. Man, Noctis would have loved this, he'd be trying to catch every single one of those bad boys, almost the point where Prompto thought about giving it a try, just to rub it in his face, but Prompto did not get the fishing things, like, at all, so Noct would just have to be satisfied with some pictures, because pictures were something Prompto understood very well.
And once he got into the shelter, hopping out of the boat and thanking the gondalier and paying his fare, he wondered if this was what it was like in Altissia, and maybe, just maybe, if he was feeling bold enough, he wondered if he could arrange to get a portal there one of these days instead of just straight home to Insomnia and...man, that would be amazeballs.
...was there something about Altissia in his memories over the weekend, though? He had to admit, some of the details were fading fast. What did that mean? Did that mean the course of history was already changing due to his self-awareness? Did that mean it was just the nature of these things not to remember? But what about...all that other stuff? With his barcode, with Niflheim, with...
Prompto shook his head, realizing that he was drifting off again and tried to focus on his work. That was most of why he bothered coming all the way here even with all the water, was to do something to keep his mind off of all of that that was actually more productive than just losing himself in video games all day. To be productive, and get stuff done, and not think about things because thinking about things just lead him in circles, but he really had so many questions...and not a single idea of who he could possibly go to for answers...
Maybe he'd just tell all the puppies. They definitely wouldn't have answers to his problems, but there was no denying that he'd at the very least feel better when he was done.
Furricane is open!

Furricane is open!

It was a pretty simple plan, as plans went.
Step one: make sure Prompto was somewhere that he couldn't easily run away from. Since he was at work, that was a nice, big, easy check off the list.
Step two: burst into the shop (which was maybe not as dramatic as normal due to the water and everything, but Nina was good at dramatics and improv and this was hardly the worst she'd dealt with) with a bright, energetic, "PROMPTOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
Step three: then, while he was (presumably) reeling at that greeting of indiscernible motive, fling her arms around him, not to kill him or to strangle him, but to hug the stuffing out of him.
Step four: well, that was up to Vette.
[Plz wait for Vette to ping before replying, yo! XD]

Because sometimes you just needed to spontaneously tackle-hug the third member of your little Fandom Gang, right?
... Right?
"Hi, Gunshow!"
no subject
He was trapped either way. Might as well enjoy it while he could, right?
Though this did seem to complicate matters a little as far as his newfound vow to really avoid the one of them now...
So the tackle-hugs landed without resistance, a little bit of an 'oof!', and a small, faint smile that he couldn't have helped, even if he'd tried.
"Nina, Vette," he nodded, trying to sound serious and grave, but only wound up chuckling a little despite himself. "To what do I owe the pleasure of this unexpected assault on both body and eardrums?"
...not a complaint, it should be noted.
no subject
Nina grinned up at him, with a laugh. "We thought, like, you were probably being stupid," well, it was true, though she possibly could have said it more diplomatically, "and so we decided this was, like, the best way to knock you out of it???????????"
Also, it had seemed fun.
no subject
A pause.
"And the worst beard. Space, Prompto, what was that thing anyway?"
no subject
He didn't know where to begin with...any of it, really, although since both of them were there right now, it seemed like a good place to start would be just pretty much trying to crush them both back as well as he could with those good ol' trusty guns of his.
And try not to really by stupid by crying or anything like that.
"Hey," he said, "I liked that beard!"
And...Cindy had liked that beard. He had no idea who Cindy even was, but she liked his beard, and that was apparently enough for him.
"Seriously, the roughest part of the weekend had to be how everyone's gotta come at me for it. Just jealous. All y'all."
no subject
"It was terrible!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Nina insisted. "And old you said you'd like to see us try to keep you from having it!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
They were totally the sort to take that as a challenge, right, Vette?
no subject
... She would not do this. But she was completely capable of learning!
no subject
Silly Prompto. You should know that would probably only make them want to do it more.
no subject
"I mean, like, that would be good practice, in and of itself," Nina mused, since getting around booby traps to get to their target would be a lot of fun but really would also be useful training. "Assuming you're any good at traps………….."
That was not, actually, mockery. She didn't know if he was or not! Traps weren't really her thing to set either, though she was good at getting around them.
no subject
She was thwarted by all the other arms in the equation, but putting a hand on his shoulder and staring him intently in the eyes was going to have to do.
"Promise me there'll be traps, Prompto. Promise me. I haven't figured out a good trap in weeks. In whole entire WEEKS."
SHE NEEDED TRAPS. SHE NEEDED THEM.
no subject
He didn't sound like he regretted it, though. Kind of hard to sound regretful when you were chuckling.
There was no small amount of nervousness to that chuckle, though, it had to be admitted.
no subject
Likely less fun for him, if he woke up one night to two girls shaving his face. But, psh, details. He was laughing and that made a lot of things better, it really did.
(Besides, if he was a heavy enough sleeper to sleep through them dismantling his traps… well, really. No words.)
"So now it's your sworn and solemn duty to learn trapping really well!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
no subject
"Even if you don't trap your room," Vette was continuing on. "Trap something. Trap a rock, just pick a rock in the preserve, I'll disarm it, it'll be great. Bonus points for puzzles, I love puzzles..."
She was going to just carry on like this for a while.
no subject
He was going to trap Sidon.
He didn't know how, but he was going to figure something out.
no subject
And that was Vette's whole entire day made, right there.
"And that's why we're keeping you," she declared. "And saving you from yourself."
But no really, who even thought that beard was a good idea? What was wrong with those people?
no subject
"And because we love you," Nina said, since she had no problems saying that sort of embarrassing thing out loud. (Other people saying it to her, however, was a different story.)
"Buuuuuuuuuuuuut………………….., while you're figuring out how to do traps properly, for Vette's sake, I have to let the both of you know that I," she said, with a grin that was pure mischief, "have had an idea!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
And given that her other ideas had included breaking into places and stealing a space ship…………
Well.
no subject
And....he felt he had a future to back that up, too. And going along with any ideas at the moment would definitely go against the whole 'Nina's better off without you, dude' thing he'd been sort of setting his heart on.
Curiosity, though, left him at least admitting, "I'm almost afraid to ask..."
Which was, of course, the best way to ask without actually asking.
no subject
Vette blinked at the announcement a little, herself.
"An idea????"
Vette was putting a valiant attempt into conjuring even half of Nina's enthusiasm, but alas, not even she could manage that one. So she just leaned in and grinned a little instead.
"What kiiiind of ideaaaa?"
NFB, please~~~
Here, she paused for dramatic effect before finishing with a flourish:
"--The Bus!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
And, with that, Nina knew she already had Vette on board.
Re: NFB, please~~~
"Whoa," he said, blinking in genuine surprise. "You mean you're actually bringing me in on a Bus Shenanigan?"
What? They never invited him on one before!
So now he was almost wondering what they might need from him. Sweetening thr deal, so to speak, making it harder for him to say no later on....
He was still totally without a doubt all in, of course, but with....suspicions.
Re: NFB, please~~~
"Bus shenanigan!" See Vette! See Vette bounce up and down in excitement. "It isn't even anywhere near a new semester! What's the occasion? Is it to brak in our new gang colors?"
Had they mentioned the gang colors to Prompto yet?
Probably not! That was fine, they hadn't really settled on what they were going to look like yet, either.
Re: NFB, please~~~
It wasn't even to celebrate Nina's birthday, which was rapidly approaching.
"Being predictable is a sign of a boring mind," she declared. "And it's totally to celebrate our gang colours!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Though we might, like, need to settle on a name for that, too, while we're all it."
They were maybe a very confused gang?
"But, like, anyway!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Dean Skywalker is, like, in love with The Bus. And grumpy bus driver is in spasms of despair that he cannot help The Bus out with all this <>water around it, making it most difficult for The Bus and the good Dean to get around happily!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! "
Nina was maybe taking a lot of creative liberties with what had been said in Tao class.
"Grumpy bus driver is in full despair about the fact that he cannot make the bus a hoverbus and, like, Dean Skywalker is totally into water wings, so, like………………………….."
Re: NFB, please~~~
And now the inside of his cheek was pretty much bleeding as he bit down on it in an unsuccessful attempt to keep from smirking. As the older, technically Senior member of this nightmarish little trio, he should probably be the responsible one. He should probably not condone such childish and mischievous antics...
....probably.
"Also....what's this about gang colors??"
Did he miss something?
Re: NFB, please~~~
"The gang colors thing is easy," Vette offered, still doing a little wiggledance over the prospect of more bus adventures even while she answered the question she did know the answer to, "see, since we're totally a gang," just in case they had neglected to pass that memo out too, "we need colors, right? So Nina and I were thinking we'd design patches or something to wear around so that everyone can see our symbol and tremble in terror!"
Or at least know to look for better ways of locking up their vehicles.
