Furricane Animal Shelter; Thursday [05/23].
Well, getting to work today had been an adventure, and Prompto totally made some friends with the gondalier whose boat nearly flipped over when Prompto got maybe a little too excited pointing out some cool fish passing by. Man, Noctis would have loved this, he'd be trying to catch every single one of those bad boys, almost the point where Prompto thought about giving it a try, just to rub it in his face, but Prompto did not get the fishing things, like, at all, so Noct would just have to be satisfied with some pictures, because pictures were something Prompto understood very well.
And once he got into the shelter, hopping out of the boat and thanking the gondalier and paying his fare, he wondered if this was what it was like in Altissia, and maybe, just maybe, if he was feeling bold enough, he wondered if he could arrange to get a portal there one of these days instead of just straight home to Insomnia and...man, that would be amazeballs.
...was there something about Altissia in his memories over the weekend, though? He had to admit, some of the details were fading fast. What did that mean? Did that mean the course of history was already changing due to his self-awareness? Did that mean it was just the nature of these things not to remember? But what about...all that other stuff? With his barcode, with Niflheim, with...
Prompto shook his head, realizing that he was drifting off again and tried to focus on his work. That was most of why he bothered coming all the way here even with all the water, was to do something to keep his mind off of all of that that was actually more productive than just losing himself in video games all day. To be productive, and get stuff done, and not think about things because thinking about things just lead him in circles, but he really had so many questions...and not a single idea of who he could possibly go to for answers...
Maybe he'd just tell all the puppies. They definitely wouldn't have answers to his problems, but there was no denying that he'd at the very least feel better when he was done.

Re: NFB, please~~~
"But," he added quickly, lest they thought he wasn't totally joking, "I guess that leaves me with...maybe yellow? Or green? Yellow's probably better than green. I guess maybe purple, but...no, I think yellow fits. And what about...I don't know, we could do, like, three rings or something? All interconnected with each other?"
Which he tried to show off with his hands, which was tricky, since he was trying to show off three rings but only had the two hands.
Of course, as he said it, he started to sort of realize the implications there; locked in together, unable to seperate them unless one was broken...
Re: NFB, please~~~
She thought on it a moment more, and then reached forward to link a third hand in with Prompto's two.
"What if we did something kind of a bit of both? Link the diamonds together like the rings?"
Re: NFB, please~~~
She shoved that away with a pang.
"Diamonds are hard to break," she said, leaning in to look better. Nina was... not going to say 'A diamonds is forever' because she was pretty sure she'd seen or heard that somewhere in a commercial for wedding bands and that was embarrassing. "I like that, with them linked together????????"
Re: NFB, please~~~
"Oooh, that's good," said Prompto, grinning. "That's really good."
And since you couldn't really make diamonds as easily as rings with one hand, he was going to go ahead and use both his hands now to make a diamond shape, tips of his thumbs and pointer fingers together, his grin going a little sheepish, his cheeks a little pink, over how this was kind of silly, and the complete opposite of the direction he wanted to take things, at least as far as Nina was concerned, but...it was way easier and felt way better to just be swept up in the whole friendship and camaraderie thing, the whole idea that they really would all be together, no matter what, almost like it always had been since the three of them wound up on that Bus that was so going to be completely covered in every floatation device in existence soon.
So, there he was, making a diamond with his two hands like a total dork, grinning at each of them as he held it out, nudging the air a little to get them to follow suit.
Or maybe just laugh at him.
But, dorky as it was, he was really hoping for the former.
Patches, colors, and a gang sign. This thing was totally going legit.
Re: NFB, please~~~
Didn't get much more legit than this, right? Vette grinned as she re-adjusted her hand, throwing the other one in for good measure.
"Diamond chainmail," she mused. "Pretty impressive, right?"
Oh yeah. People would see these three idiots coming and tremble in their booties.
Re: NFB, please~~~
Because idiots they might be but they were unstoppable once they got going.
Nina laughed, taking a moment to form her own diamond with her hands and add it to theirs. "There," she said, satisfied. "We're all linked this way, in diamond. Unbreakable!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
They still needed a gang name, though, really.
Re: NFB, please~~~
And neither of them had any clue about any of that stuff, either. Gee, how'd he get to be the lucky one there?
The last thing he'd want to do is weigh any of this down with any of that, though, so those thoughts were all just being shoved right down into his stomach for now, with nothing but the most encouraging, dorkiest, lopsided-est grin he could muster. And he was pretty damn good at mustering up some grins, really.
Re: NFB, please~~~
Hey now, Vette would totally keep in touch! As much as she could! Around being collared, gifted to a Sith, and ultimately brutally murdered, anyway.
... Unbreakable!
"Even if 'The Unbreakables' just makes us sound like a Huttball team," Vette mused.
Re: NFB, please~~~
"It's not very snappy either," Nina said, giggling. "Like, it doesn't roll off the tongue very well as a name, does it??????????"
Totally unbreakable!
Re: NFB, please~~~
And it definitely wasn't him. He'd even been one before.
"But," he added more seriously. "Dogs are kind of the best...no offense to Miss Dozy," he nodded to Vette, "of course...and they're fiercely loyal and they stick with their pack, so I mean...I'm kind of biased, but..."
Re: NFB, please~~~
"Hey, Dozy's not going to take offense, and I was a bird," Vette replied, re-claiming her hands and shrugging. "But you can't just say something like that and not share, Gunshow."
Re: NFB, please~~~
So, like, carry on!
Re: NFB, please~~~
"Well, I just think something like maybe Diamond Dogs has a good ring to it," he said. "Maybe it's just, you know, we're in the shelter and so all I think about are doggos when I'm here, but...it's, like, we're hard and fierce but also sparkly and cute and, you know, the best."
And of course instant doubt rushed in, so it was followed up quickly with, "Or it's stupid, there's that too, it's just brainstorming, just kicking an idea around!"
Re: NFB, please~~~
Hey, Vette had nicknamed herself after a horrifying tentacle monster in Gladiators class. Some cute puppies weren't going to be a dealbreaker for her.
"... I dunno," she mused. "I kinda like it. Diamond Doggos."
Leave it to her to lean into the cutesy version immediately.
"Sure beats 'Carbonite Kath-Hounds,' anyway."
Re: NFB, please~~~
She shifted a little, considering the name.
"I suppose it isn't bad," she conceded, slowly. "And, like, if we shortened it DiaD almost sounds like Deity, doesn't it? Like, we're strong and tough and sparkly and also under protection of a higher power?"
Re: NFB, please~~~
Although, in light of what he was vaguely remembering from the last weekend, Prompto wasn't quite sure what to think about appealing for the protection of any sort of higher power, himself. But it seemed like a decent compromise.
"That could work," he allowed. "I mean, unless there's any other thoughts that come up..."
Re: NFB, please~~~
Vette, meanwhile, was actually trying not to squirm a little. Apparently higher powers were to her as dogs were to Nina? For wholly different reasons that totally had nothing at all to do with how greater powers really never had done her any big favors, and likely never would.
"... Whaaaat if we keep the Diamond part," she ventured, "but keep it... uh..." Fidget. "More people-ish. Diamond Duelists or Diamond Daredevils or Diamond-Watch-Out-We're-Gonna-Mess-Up-Your-Bus...es."
It was a work in progress.
Re: NFB, please~~~
But she still wanted to, like, keep Prompto's contribution too, while making it something that she could stand.
"What about, like, the Diamond Dare," she suggested. "Like we're making it real, making it a dare to ourselves that we'll be unbreakable like diamonds?????? But, because we're also tough and loyal and cute and sparkly, what about having our diamond symbol superimposed over a dog's paw print??????"
It would make the patch a little more complicated, but it would also have the dog connection.
Re: NFB, please~~~
And then, snickering, because he couldn't help himself, "Or Drama Diamonds."
Re: NFB, please~~~
"Drama Diamonds!" Vette couldn't help but break into a laugh at that, somewhere between startled and kinda delighted by it. "If that doesn't sum us up, I don't know what does."
Re: NFB, please~~~
As if they weren't already going to be laughing at this ridiculous excuse for a gang. As if.
"But, like, synonyms of drama," though really, there was a fun name right there 'Synonyms of Drama', "aren't much better????????????? Show Diamonds is awful too!!!!!!!"
And, like, Play Diamonds was just as bad.
Still, she was laughing.
Re: NFB, please~~~
Re: NFB, please~~~
"If they're laughing at us, they're totally not paying attention to us as I steal their wallets," Vette noted cheerfully, raising her hand. "Aye!"
Re: NFB, please~~~
Besides, Vette did have a good point.
"Oh, alright!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" she giggled, raising her hand. "Aye!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
Re: NFB, please~~~
...as if they would have difficulty with that.
"Then it's unanimous!" He grinned. "We shall from henceforth have a super bomb-ass name for our adorable and terrifying new gang."
And now his grin really went crooked, and he even bowed a little, for a more...title-fitting flair.
"Shine on, Drama Diamonds. Shine on."
