Look. If there was one thing that was proven time and time and time again, through various alternate dimensions and universes, it was that Summer Smith always thrived when the rest of the world had gone to shit, and this version of Summer certainly hadn't turned out to be the little bitch version of Summer that didn't keep up the trend. It definitely wasn't easy, running a general store in a place like this, but if anyone was going to keep those shelves as stocked with whatever rando canned goods and shelf-stable products as much as possible, it would be her.
Occasionally, she even managed to scrounge up some fresh veg on an adventure of some sort, but those were rare occassions indeed. Less rare was the fact that she spent her morning doing some hunting and scavaging, like she always did, and returned successful, like she usually did, beaming proudly with the dead corpse of some unfortunate creature who picked the wrong redhead to mess with that morning slung over her shoulder, flipping over the sign in the window as she strolled into the store, whistling merrily before plopping the animal down on the counter to start butchering up into smaller, sellable pieces.
YES!, the sign declared for everyone to see, WE HAVE FRESH MEAT TODAY!
Underneath which was another sign: Weekly Special on Vitamin C tablets! Seriously, guys, scurvy is serious business!
So, the shelves were at least half-bare, the lights overhead always seemed to flicker for the most eerie effect, and the music over the speakers was some sort of distorted shopping muzak on repeat, but that's how it'd always been, really, wiiiiink.
Oh. And the Squishy machine still worked, too. Because why not?
