Turtle & Canary; Monday [06/03].
After a great deal of consideration and grooming, Pancakes decided that, yes, she would like to come with Summer to the store that day, although certainly not if Summer planned on going in that outfit. Summer was...a little offended, sure, she liked that outfit, but she could sort of see where her apparently very judgey cat was coming from and opted for something a bit more feline approved instead.
And Pancakes was very judgey, and gossipy, too, apparently having opinions about a lot of the people on the island that she hadn't even met yet, but had formed opinions about based on Summer's studious dedication to listening to the radio broadcasts, and, quite frankly, Summer was kind of loving it. The store was back to normal; all of her orders from two tweeks ago had been conveniently delayed due to the status change of the island, so she didn't even need to put those in again, which meant she and her cat could spend most of the day dishing about this and that and the other thing.
And if Pancakes started to get a little arch and judgey toward Summer, Summer was learning to just mention how it was a shame she didn't have those three tails anymore, which would just cause Pancakes to shudder and make a hairball gagging sound in distaste. "Just awful," she murmured, still a bit too young to have a voice up to its full sultry potential that was sure to drive all the male cats crazy one day. "Almost as bad as that time you thought it was a good idea to take me up into space."
"Well, you know you've just got to get used to that," Summer told her. "But we'll get you there. I'm really just glad you're not trying to take over the world like the last time I had a pet that had learned to verbally communicate."
And to that, Pancakes scoffed. Silly, silly human, didn't she know? She hardly needed to take over the world when cats very clearly already owned this world. Her expression was indulgant but adoring for her poor, dumb, but still lovely in her own way human. "If you'll pardon me," she purred, hopping off the counter for the time being, "I believe I'll just go mosey on over to the fish and see if there's anything suitable that may have come in today."
"You do you, Pancakes," said Summer, easily, though with a slight pause that was followed up quickly with, "as long as it's not trying to take over the world."

[[ and I think I should be worried that that recipe auto-filled itself in as a suggestion in my search bar when I'd only typed in 'coca-cola' ]]
