The Park, Friday Afternoon
It was a beautiful day today, and it would have been a shame to spend it all in the warehouse, especially since Stance had insisted he try out his new vest-vesty-vest to go commune with the ducks in. It was a pretty handsome number for a doggy life vest, all black with rainbow trim, because Stance had a theme and he needed to stick with it, of course.
The ducks weren't having any of it, yelling things about how he better not eat them, but Stance wasn't one to be deterred so easily, calling back, "Look! I am calmly floating! Floating to my newest most best friends!"
Kanan just chuckled, seated himself on the lawn in the sunshine, and settled in to meditate. His sword training equipment was nearby - most of it had even actually recovered in the wake of the flooding - but on a day like today, that much could wait at least until he had a student or something.

"Rey! Hold on a second-- you'll be thankful you did." Kanan lowered the phone a little and called out toward the water, "Stance! Buddy! Phone call!"
"PHONE CALL! Oh that is exciting I have never had a phone call before this is the best day, bye ducks! I will swim at you with ym vestyvesty in a little while but right now I have a phone call!"
And while he was making his way over, Kanan was chuckling and returning the phone to his ear.
"This week was not a repeat of dinosaurs," he informed Rey.

"Oh no, not at all," Kanan agreed, as the wet dog caught up to him and ... shook himself off. So, now Kanan was wet.
He'd cope.
"Stance, buddy, it's Rey. Do you want to say hi?"
"OH! Rey! Rey hello it is me, it is Stance! I have not played with you in forever and now I am saying hi!"
Welcome to this week's weirdness, Rey.
no subject
She had no idea why this was so weird compared to literally any of the other weirdness she had heard of or experienced!

"I talk today! Today and yesterday and the day before and all the time!"
Kanan cleared his throat from not far from the receiver.
"Tell her it's a this week thing, buddy."
"It is a this week thing buddy!"
Stance was not necessarily the brightest.

"This is amazing. Is it weird talking? Do you like it?"
no subject
"It is very neat! People talk to me just as much as always but now they are talking to me about the things I say and I have a vest! It was Tip's idea and I'm using it to make friends with the ducks. I think it's working."
Kanan's amused snort, still faintly audible, probably suggested otherwise.

Seivarden, who by now was tired of being so obviously bossed around by her cat, just sighed and walked up to Kanan.
This was when Issa realized that Stance was in the water. Floating with the ducks. She slowly approached the pond and sat down near the edge to clean herself, not at all feeling like she was ignored.

"And I will catch you and play with you and we will be the goodest most best friends-- where are you going?"
"Cat! Cat cat cat!" One of the ducks nearest to the shore up and flew away. Stance sulked after it, until he noticed the cat in question.
"Issa! Oh, my most bestest favorite friend!" And now there was a wet dog paddling to shore. Issa, were you sure you wanted this?
Kanan was just... chuckling a little, eyes closed. Today was far from boring, so far.

She knew Stance.
Seivarden nodded at Kanan. "Good afternoon. So, interesting week?"
no subject
"The water is in the big puddle! I am not all the water, I am only some of the water!" And there was Stance, shaking himself off.
Water, everywhere. Sorry, Issa.
Kanan, meanwhile, was giving up on meditating, pretty much ever again. He opened his eyes and glanced Seivarden's way.
"Enthusiastic week," he offered. "It's not so terrible, though. Stance is energetic, but good. You?"
no subject
Seivarden sighed. "Well, I have to say I prefer her usual way of communicating."
no subject
He wasn't. But he was dry enough for his tastes, and the sun would do the rest of the work soon enough.
"Cats will be cats, huh?" Kanan smiled a little wryly. "She expects the whole world on a platter and is pretty sure you'll give it to her?"
Hey, he'd done his time as a cat, too. He got it.
no subject
She darted out from under the leaves, running across the grass towards the nearest tree.
"Something like that," Seivarden said. "Of course that's no different than usual, I suppose."
no subject
"Just now you know exactly what she thinks when she expects it," Kanan mused. "You're looking forward to Monday, I'm guessing."
Oh no. Don't look forward to Monday.

If he didn't want to, there was always playing with Stance.
Lana walked over, waving to Stance and just letting her Force aura announce her to Kanan.
no subject
It was a good good vest, and Stance was very pleased with it.
Kanan, meanwhile, was just exhaling a soft laugh.
Yeah, meditating was hard enough when Stance couldn't talk.

"Go away!"
"They are very shy!"
Kanan just smiled and shook his head a little.

Kanan... shrugged.

Stance, buddy, Kanan was right there.
