Turtle & Canary; Monday [06/10].

Right, so, Summer of course listened to radio that morning and it included a warning about not going out unless you absolutely had to from pretty much the only person she'd actually listen to about something like that, buuuut...

Curiousity was a cruel mistress, though, really. There was a time, not even that long ago, where Summer would have immediately NOPE'D out of anything even remotely weird and/or dangerous, but those days were distant memories. Still. If BDG was saying it...Biting her lip, giving Pancakes a worried look and rubbing her head and already feeling sad that she wasn't talking anymore, she decided to just call up Apu and ask how the store was doing, and she figured she'd go from there.

The store was not doing...great, it sounded like. Things were leaking, shelves were pretty bare again due to no orders or shipments coming in for apparently a while now. But they had a ton of some things called Pep Bars. Well, that she clearly needed to see for herself and, as the owner, she needed to be responsible for figuring out what was going on, so, sorry, BDG, she was grabbing her blaster and a knife and heading out.

It wasn't even that bad, but Summer realized she did have a pretty skewed idea on what was bad. She was more annoyed about the store's current state that anything else, but it made sense with everything else and it seemed like portals were still an option, so she just had to sort of think of how to make this work.

Soon, there was a sign, nice and glittery (the supply on glitter seemed miraculously fine), in the window:

At that point, really, she didn't see why people couldn't just get what they needed themselves, but, hey, it was better than nothing, and if that meant hopping over to a normal universe or some other one for a customer, she wouldn't mind at all.

Rather than letting students wander outside for things when they didn't need to, Sabine and Lana had decided to go out on a supply run for the dorms, which meant Turtle and Canary was a good place to stop.

Sort of.

"This is different than I expected," Sabine said.

"I wonder what the primo special orders are," Lana said. "Apart from probably expensive."

"I'm going to hope it's just the fancy stuff and the basic staples are fine," Sabine said, even if she did t really believe that.

"Only one way to find out." Lana looked down the first aisle and started down it.

"It's not looking great," Sabine said, following and peering at the shelves. "The good news is it's not radioactive this time."

"Small favours," Lana said. She found a few cans of beans and made a pack from her cloak, adding them to it. "At least the place itself won't kill us as long as it doesn't collapse."

"No, but then there's the guys with sickles, apparently," Sabine said, picking up a can of something and checking the date. It actually was still in range. "Won't be fighting with bombs in here."

"No, please," Lana said. "I think I'm at an advantage there. I wonder if anybody has a vibroblade you could use."

"If not, blasters should be okay if I'm careful. And I could probably see if Kanan has a sword I can borrow." Not as fancy, but it would do the trick.

"I think he's got a few," Lana said. "I have a feeling we won't be able to avoid fighting all week."

"Better us than someone who doesn't know how. Though I'm sure most people can figure out a way to stick around home," Sabine mused, picking up another can. She really had been expecting things to be older.

"That'll be easier with this, hopefully." Lana nodded and found a bag of soup mix.

"It feels unfair that this is already this picked over," Sabine noted. "Everywhere else has to be about the same."

"I doubt there's anything fresh, anyway," Lana said. "If we don't find much here, we can always go further out later."

"I wonder what it's like trying to get off the... well, not really an island," Sabine mused, heading into the next aisle.

"Should we check what the causeway does? Walk the perimeter?" Lana asked.

[seriesofbaddecisions]

"We should. Probably give ourselves an idea of what the fighting's going to be like, too," Sabine said, just way too casually.

Lana nodded in agreement. "Right after this, then."

"Which reminds me to check the medical supplies."

What there'd be of them in a place where people got stabbed a lot.

"Next time I get a comm home, I'm asking for a fully stocked medkit and plenty of kolto," Lana vowed.

"Wouldn't hurt. I also wouldn't mind doing a run back home to prep for these kinds of weeks," Sabine said. "Since we also don't know how long this will be going on."

"Agreed," Lana said. "I'll have to make a list and try to find time to head back for a day."

"How often do you usually make it back there?" Sabine wondered.

[unusual_sith]

"I haven't been back since I came," Lana said. "But there's no reason not to, really. Even military postings get time off. Would you be interested in seeing Dromund Kaas? We've got an entire Mandalorian enclave."

Sabine paused. Even if Lana seemed to be rare for a Sith, she didn't think she'd have much to worry about on a planet full of them. She also hadn't really spent a lot of time around other Mandalorians since she'd escaped the Academy, and that could bring up some feelings she really didn't want.

But she also wanted to see it.

"Sure," she said. "Just give me a date and I'm in."

Eh, there were dicks everywhere, but Kaas City was fairly civilized.

"The week between classes?" Lana suggested. "I hate to miss any this close to the end."

Because she was a nerd.

"Couldn't have that," she said wryly, smiling under the helmet. She respected the nerdiness. "Sounds good to me."

"I'll make plans, then," Lana said. "It'll be good to get some supplies and get out of all...this," she waved her hand at the island. "Kaas City won't be any less damp, but at least there's plenty of food and it's not in danger of collapsing around us."
