"Uhhh, Apu?" asked Summer, emerging from one of the aisles looking a little bewildered and confused, then hitching her thumb over her shoulder. "Did you know there's a panda over in the cheese case?"
Hey, the island was doing some pretty wonky-ass shit this summer; she just sort of figured this was part of it, but it seemed like the sort of thing Apu would want to know about. Or might even already know about it.
"...panda?" he asked.
"Yeah, in the cheese case. And he was, like, super rude and pushy about me buying some, and I'm, like, uh, hello, I own this place, you can't tell me what to do, Cheese Panda!"
Apu just sort of looked at Summer for a moment before venturing, "And how did that work out for you?"
Summer's hand went up in the air. "Not well! What is his deal, anyway?"
And Apu just sighed, shaking his head. "He must have gone into hibernation or something, we have not seen that panda here in many, many years."
"So that's, like, a thing? We just...have a panda in the cheese case that has, like, no concept of personal boundaries or politeness? That, like, never came up before? And, like, what if I was lactose-intolerant, Apu? What if I was vegan? He can't just suddenly show up in my store and start pushing cheese on people! Me and this panda are gonna have a talk."
So Summer stormed back toward the cheese case. And, a little while later, came storming right back, murmuring and glowering at her phones as her finger flew over it. "Are pandas still endagered??" she asked as she typed. "....upgraded. No longer engagered, but 'vulnerable.' Good. Let's see...'best way to get rid of pandas...' hmmm, not much, how about just 'best way to get rid of bears...'"
She might be at this for a while.
