Caritas- Monday

Kitty had never been angrier in her whole life, and she'd started a lot of fights in her life! But this time they'd messsed with her kid and do it was entirely possible she would try to murder whoever caused it this week!

But for now, she looked like a happy little plastic Kitty in her bar, which looked more like a kitchen-type play house, with cabinets were you could pull out teacups and pieces of plastic snack food.

The fact that Tino was a finger puppet? Not gonna touch that right now. Or ever.

But since she knew of at least one other person who thought this was weird, she'd set up a tea party in the back room, along with a "NO SQUIRRELS CLUB" sign to discourage spying.

[I've decided to offer up Caritas as a meeting place for anyone who might want to find people who broke off the brainwashing, and in case anyone wants a safe place to plot.

No zombies, because those are scary. Today they're dinosaur toys!

It's all plastic food and water as "tea", maybe a real soda. You can talk to Kitty or mod your finger puppet!

In case you want to sit happily and play by yourself.

It's totally a private tea party where squirrels are not allowed!

Which means if you're gonna have any sekrit conversations, this is the place to do it.

I love this plot already.

"Kitty!" Regina greeted, her plastered on grin stretched just a touch too taut after a day of playing happy diner times at Luke's. "How are you?!"

Her cheek twitched. She hadn't wanted to find something to murder quite this badly in a really long time.

"Never better!"

She wanted to stab whoever did this in the face with a bone claw!

"This is definitely maybe the happiest I've ever been."

"Oh good," Regina said, her voice practically dripping. "I'm so glad to hear it. Why, not being happy on a day like this would just be a curse."

That was a very fine line she was walking there. Hopefully Regina had talked enough about curses by now that her bringing it up would be normal enough to glide right by anyone likely to report her, while also being enough of an oddity in this particular conversation that someone who noticed things were deeply wrong would pick up on it and realize Regina did, too.

Well. If Kitty had her sent to the Toybox, maybe she could set it on fire. She'd been meaning to see if her fireballs still worked.

Kitty deeply appreciated Regina's sarcasm. You know, that she shouldn't have.

And there was a pause before she said, "You know, there's an invite-only tea party in the back room. No squirrels allowed. It's super fun!"

Was that a trick, or an opportunity? Honestly, with everyone's faces being made of plastic or felt, it was hard to tell. Still, no one had ever accused Regina Mills of being a coward.

She smiled again and gave a thoughtful little tilt of her head. "That sounds absolutely lovely," she said. "Shed squirrel fur can absolutely ruin a good tea party, even if they are the most delightful little gossips." She tapped her fingers against the plastic side of her tiny, completely nonfunctional purse. "You're certain they can't . . . sneak in?"

"I made a sign. It's the No Squirrels Club. And I think we all know it'd be very bad of them not to play along," Kitty said knowingly.

And then she mouthed, "And I have radio tonight."

Suck it, tattletales.

Regina's smile relaxed into something a bit more real -- or as real as it could get when made out of rubbery plastic. "Well then, that sounds like a perfect end to a perfect day, thank you, Kitty. And I even have turnovers to share!"

They were entirely inedible, but they looked delicious.

Regina made sure the door was shut firmly behind her, and gave the room a thorough once-over before she let herself relax.

Then she let out a string of curses that were absolutely unbecoming on a maternal doll like herself, but felt really good to say.

And look! Her fireballs were working properly. That was very good to know.

"Feel better?" Kitty asked.

"Entirely," Regina said. She extinguished her fireball and straightened her blazer (still impeccably tailored, albeit out of polyester and held together with snaps). "Thank you."

Did a robotic plushy panther kitty belong in a bar?

...probably not, but here Shuri was anyway!

"Hi!"

... Huh. Kanan wasn't expecting Caritas to be open today. But then, he wasn't expecting... much... from today. He squinted a little at the bar for a minute, and then, not even certain if this was or wasn't against his better judgment, he made his kind of clunky way inside.

Stupid base being fused to his stupid plastic feet.

"Oh, hey. Look how... cheerful everything is in here!"

That smile couldn't possibly be more plastic if he tried. Really.

"Great."

"No problem. My baby's plastic, so I've been wanting to scream pretty much all day," she said.

"Hi!" Kitty greeted her. "How are you this evening?"

Please be normal, Kitty hated this act a lot.

On one hand, she was beginning to recognize that tone. On the other hand, she'd heard radio.

"It's extremely cheerful," Kitty said. "Just like it's supposed to be."

"So, so happy to be here, as always," Shuri said, only sounding slightly strained. "Love being a panther, love being a toy--"

Trying too hard, Shuri.

"Yup. Just like." Kanan's grin brightened for a whole... two seconds, and then he reached up a plastic hand - the one not fused to a plastic lightsaber - to scrub at his plastic face. "Today's been some day. Took my dog to work two days in a row. Had the weirdest moment somewhere in the middle of class."

Somewhere after the lecture about thinking happy thoughts, but before he'd had to gather Stance up to corral him back home.

One-handed. With his feet fused to a plastic base.

Regina blinked at that. "I admire your restraint," she said after a moment. "If my son were here and threatened by all of this as well, I'm not sure I'd be able to keep from trying to burn the whole place down."

Or melt it, she supposed. Far too much of the town was currently made of plastic.

"That's only because I've seen enough to know that I need to find whoever or whatever caused this, and then I get to phase their heart clear out of their body."

Kitty wasn't the most powerful anything out there, but it was generally a bad idea to fuck with Kurt.

"Sounds like you're having a great time," Kitty said, more sincerely because good lord she hated sounding smiley.
