Caritas; Wednesday [08/21].
Man. Summer hoped that it was maybe a little busy at the bar tonight, that it wouldn't be too quiet of a day, because her brain had been in full-on business mode pretty much since Monday morning and not even the Wednesday activity could get it to stop. So she wouldn't mind distractions in the form of customers because she actually really liked this job, especially that aspect of it, and at least that was going to translate well into the new shop, but more so than it ever did with T&C.
If she didn't have many customers tonight, though, she was likely going to pretty much spend the whole time on her phone, going through all sorts of information on equipments and pricing and decor ideas (there was a nice little rabbit hole that was pretty much impossible to crawl out of) and where she could possibly find the best bulk gelatin bang for her buck, and, ohgod, there was so much work to do, but she couldn't help being sucked in by it all, and someone please save her from herself and the impending---
---oooh, look! Cat videos! How Summer managed to trip her way into a slew of cat videos when looking up various jello mold pans was anyone's guess, but that truly was the incredible power of the internet.

Hey, you didn't think she was going to take a little skip on over to outer space and not come back with some fresh meiloorun, did you?

"Am I interrupting?"

Well, it had been, at one point, but Summer'd gotten thoroughly distracted since then. Either way, since Kitty definitely wasn't paying her to sit around watching cat gifs all day (now that would be living the dream!), she watched it one more time because how could she not?, before putting the phone away.
"What can I get for you, Rey?"

"It started as research into some kitchen equipment," she explained, "but then somehow it just turned into cats."
And...really, considering how many times she'd tried to eat her cat this summer, that transition might have worried her, if it weren't for just the simple nature of the internet which, let's be honest, had about an eighty percent chance of always just ending up on cats.

She shrugged again, then shifted the subject with a faint smile. "But, hey, it's nice to see you again and not made of plastic this time!"
Definitely going up there on the list of Weirdest Time for a Reunion.
no subject
Shut up, that timing was perfect.
"How have you been?"

handwaveydays. "Trying to squeeze in a bunch of the stuff I had planned to do last week, but sort of ran into a pretty big roadblock there..."And then she tilted her head thoughtfully for a moment at Rey, trying to go back and remember how much of her grand scheme was in place the last time she was here, and really finding it impossible, because the last few months sort of took over her brainspace and she could barely remember things that happened in July, at this point, much less further back.
"I've had a busy summer, actually," she offered. "I'm getting things set up to go out to Kanan and Hera's little slice of that galaxy," how many versions of that galaxy were present here? You know it was bad when even Summer with her own little dozens of dimensions had trouble keeping track, "see what I can do to help."

And what a fun conversation that was going to be! Summer was super looking forward to it!

Why use Jedi powers when there were nose wrinkles?

"Well," Summer said, hedging slightly, "...it probably won't be good..."
But just straight up calling it bad sounded so...well, bad.
"Don't say anything to him, though," she rushed in. "I don't want him to worry about it, not until absolutely necessary, especially with everything that happened last week. BUt I...really don't see him being too happy with some of the...finer details of my plans."
Which, you know, was kind of tough shit for him, because she'd been thinking about this for months now, and it was the best way for this to happen, whether he liked it or not, and it was going to happen, whehter he liked it or not, because Summer had a ship now and there was nothing he could do short of sabotaging that ship to stop her, and even then, hello, Portals, and even if he got to the Portalocity gnomes before her, she had access to her own (well, sort of) portal gun, sooo....
Say what you will about Operation Space Jello, but there was no denying that it had been given considerable thought.

"It's Coruscant," she said, instinctively flinching thanks to all the times she'd gone over those words in her head, but to a different audience, and glancing around to hopefully catch the eye of a squirrel in the bar to give them a good don't be a dick and include that little nuggest in your notes, I'll give you booze later look. "I'm gonna be heading to Coruscant."
no subject
So she leaned forward and said, "Okay," expecting more.
no subject
"Kanan can't go to Coruscant," she offered to illuminate the issue a little more. "Because it's also, like, Grand Central Station for the Empire right now."
Pause.
"Right now," she amended, "for when I'll be there."
Seriously, timelines.

"Oof," Summer said, blinking with a realization, "it really has been a while, hasn't it? I'm going to be opening a jello shop. Turns out there's a severely untapped market for unique gelatin creations out there in space. So what I've got planned is just sort of like a cantina....but with jello."
It was gonna be straight fire.

"It's been a year," Rey said. "It definitely does sound like something you're fit to do."

She spoke from experience. With a new phone.

Thanks a lot, space dad-slash-BFF.
Summer took a moment to check on Rey's water, filling it for her if it looked a little low, before helping herself to one of her jello shots and leaning forward with her arms folded on the bar.
"So," she said, "your turn now. There's no way I'm going to believe that you left for a year and came back with all those mystical space superpowers and there's not a story there."

If Summer's tone seemed to suggest that maybe Rey might have been skipping a few steps there, well...it was. It definitely was. And really hoping she had been, too, because if that was all it took? Summer was definitely going to avoid helping any droids or ex-stormtroopers while she was out there. All that Force business sounded like way more trouble than it was worth.

"Kanan figured it out about me a while ago, but I didn't believe him. And then there was a lightsaber, and then I was searching for a Jedi Master, and that went badly, and now I'm here."
no subject
But that was fine, Summer could accept that.
For now.
Summer was going to give Rey a bit of an unimpressed look, though, before asking, with a bit more interest, "Is Kanan going to be training you?"
no subject
Rey nodded. "There are some others I want to talk to-" Looking at you, Anakin. "-but he offered, and now he's stuck with me."
She'd stalked Luke for days, she was not above stubbornly asking for help.
no subject
"But that's good," she added emphatically. "That's really good; I think that'll be good for both of you, really."
Especially him.
Assuming nothing 'went badly,' anyway.
no subject
Also her father figure types were having even worse luck lately.

flatbutt."She was allowed to worry, too, dammit!
In fact, she'd argue that she had even more cause for concern rather than vice versa.

"Right," she reminded herself. "You just got back. No, man, this has been more of an every-other-week sort of thing lately. This summer has been literally insane. That last one did sort of have this whole air of finality to it, so maybe it's done now that we're moving into fall, but, yeah, do not be surprised if next week, you're eating those words. Possibly as a monster. Because that was totally a thing."

She was pretty cool with the idea of some quiet here. Please let it be quiet.

Better not get Summer's hopes up.

"It's a fruit from space," she explained, figuring that was the easiest way to do it. "From the galaxy where Kanan and Hera are from, and, even though we have it at the store now, it's Hera's favorite, so I wanted to bring back some fresh for her while I was out there. And also to work into some new recipes."
Pause.
"Which you should try, because, honestly, why the hell not? Are you afraid you might actually like something?"
no subject
That wasn't the main reason, but it was the best reason Seivarden could come up with.
"Anyway," she said. "I'll have a beer. And I wanted to talk to you about something."
no subject
But she got Seivarden her beer and set it down in front of her on a nice coaster, and had to admit, that last part did pique her interest. "Yeah?" she asked, reminding herself not to get too hyped for anything actually interesting, it was probably going to wind up being super boring and dumb. "What's up?"
no subject
She reached for the glass and took a sip.
