The Clinic, Sunday Morning

A broken leg and a few broken ribs wasn't going to keep Breq in a hospital bed. It would have been better if they had had correctives, but that wasn't the case, so she would have to deal with that cast around her leg and a pair of crutches she had been told she wasn't supposed to use yet.

The nurses had refused at first to give her back her clothes, but had reluctantly agreed when Breq had been persistent. There was no way she could get her pants or boot over the cast of course, but when the nurse disappeared, Breq pulled on the shirt and jacket, opened the window and heaved herself over the ledge, activating the armour as she fell to the ground below.

The fall hurt, she had to admit it, but it wasn't something she couldn't deal with on her own.

[Open clinic. Expecting one, but other people are welcome before that.]

Tisarwat wasn't going to make the same mistakes she'd made yesterday. And, really, she was honestly surprised that Breq somehow wasn't dead already, with everything she'd been through yesterday, and Tisarwat would know, she had been trailing her all day through each and every mishap. But she was still, somehow, kicking. She was a survivor, after all, so Tisarwat shouldn't be too surprised. But no more. She had her mission. She had to end this.

So she waited, behind a conveniently placed barrel or two, her gun on the ready, just waiting for the inevitable escape from the clinic, and the perfect timing, where she could pull the trigger and send that bullet toward Breq when she least expected it, before she even had time to pull up her armor.

There! At the window! Tisarwat took aim, pulled the trigger, and....the bullet ricocheted off the wall and Breq went falling out of it, just in time to miss it.

"Aatr's tits!"

This time, Tisarwat couldn't help saying it outloud.

Tisarwat would get to that. She actually likely had a very long and verbose monologue about the answer to that question that she'll come around to eventually. But, for now, she had her own question for Breq, her own armor now up and shimmering slightly around her, thus making this whole stand-off incredibly ineffectual. Unless she already had that gun, but Tisarwat was pretty sure she'd gone back far enough that she wouldn't.

"Why won't you just die?" she demanded.

Seriously. How? Any other ancillary would have had to have been replaced five times over at the rate Breq was going!

And Tisarwat could hardly take any chances, just in case, even though she was fairly confident her armor would be sufficient against the gun Breq currently had. So she dove to the side, rolling with it behind the cover of more conveniently placed boxes, appearing briefly over the top to fire a shot at Breq, even though she knew it would do little more than just get a point across.

"Not if I have anything to say about it!" she shouted, and then whent down behind the boxes again, moving a little over to the side in case Breq decided to fire the next one through the box.

Ha! Showed how much she knew. Tisarwat's family was so inconsequential, no one would even miss her if she failed. That was the whole point! But if she succeeded....

"You're a traitor!" she countered back fiercely. "A threat to the entire Radch, and must be destroyed, just like she destroyed the rest of you! I was sent here to finish the job, once and for all!"
