It was a lovely day for an outdoor wedding, with everything done up in white, tables and chairs set up in the respective ceremony and reception areas. The birds were singing, the sun was shining, had that gazebo always been there?

Welcome to the wedding of Jaina and Tahiri. Hopefully no one had any objections, embarrassing speeches, or public declarations of love to make.

"Is it even ethically responsible to open this place up on a weird weekend?" Atton mused.

Not that he cared, exactly. If anything, he was probably going to be entertained, and all the work he was doing setting up the specials board - 20 percent off mocktails if you can pronounce their names right - was probably going to be rewarded with at least one moment of hilarity he could hold over someone's head.

He looked at Tino. Tino ignored him.

"Yeah, I didn't think so either."

Caritas was open.

The Clinic, Sunday Morning

A broken leg and a few broken ribs wasn't going to keep Breq in a hospital bed. It would have been better if they had had correctives, but that wasn't the case, so she would have to deal with that cast around her leg and a pair of crutches she had been told she wasn't supposed to use yet.

The nurses had refused at first to give her back her clothes, but had reluctantly agreed when Breq had been persistent. There was no way she could get her pants or boot over the cast of course, but when the nurse disappeared, Breq pulled on the shirt and jacket, opened the window and heaved herself over the ledge, activating the armour as she fell to the ground below.

The fall hurt, she had to admit it, but it wasn't something she couldn't deal with on her own.
