The beach, Saturday night

Another week, another reason to hang out on the beach, which actually wasn't insanely humid tonight. Miguel brought a twelve-pack of beer, another of cider, and a bottle of brandy, along with leftover empanadas, chilaquiles, and tres leches cake from his day at the diner - he'd maybe cooked a little (a lot) too much instead of only making it to order.

He had to shoo a number of porgs away from the wood in order to build a fire, and finally resulted to webbing a few of them to keep them from setting themselves on fire while he was working on it. They gave him dirty looks as he released them, but he figured it was worth it.

Anyway, looked like tonight would be the "Drunk, Bored, Well-fed, and Accompanied by Porgs" club. It was a thing.

Far be it from Rosa to miss out on a D&B night when the opportunity was there. Sans dog this time, because of course Arlo 2 wanted to make friends with literally every porg on the island and that was a lot of porgs. So everyone thank the dumb-looking idiots for saving your shoes tonight, as well as giving Rosa the extra hand so she could bring along a bottle of good whiskey to accompany the shitty beer that no one would drink because everyone brought decent beer but she mostly just kept bringing as a statement.

What was the statement? She didn't know. It was...tradition, or something. Whatever. She was socializing. Kind of. What more did you want from her?

With a faint grin back, Rosa hefted her bottle back. It was impressive, how much she'd gotten through, until you took into account the fact that you could definitely do a good amount of drinking when you weren't bothering to talk to anyone.

"It's a Saturday, anyway," she said.

Jack showed up with a whole selection of booze and mixers that she plopped right down into the beach next to a bag of red Solo cups. Waved to Miguel a little distractedly because there were porgs and she'd brought snacks to try to bribe them with.

So if anyone needed Jack, she was going to be sitting away from the fire with a big stupid smile on her face, surrounded by trilling little porgs and feeding them little bits of something.

"Making some new friends there, Jack?" asked Amaya with no small amount of amusement as she eventually drifted over to at least say hello.

"The little fuckers are adorable and I want to learn how to keep them away from my shit," Jack said with a grin.

She was playing with them wholly for that first part. "How you been, Amaya? Rocking anything new at the fjorge?"

"Yeah!" Jack said with a smile, "Look at these cute little fuckers! They like the little pie things too!"

Fjord was still rocking the 'white t-shirt, black jeans, and tall boots' look today, but at least he came bearing whiskey.

"What the fuck are you?" he asked, staring at one of the little bird-things as it flapped up and tried to grab at one of the buckles on his boot.

"Your minions are trying to steal my boots," Fjord deadpanned as the jumping porg proceeded to grab on to that buckle and just dangle there. "My legs don't work like that, the little fucker is safe for now."

His boots buckled just by his knee, after all.

"Hey, Fjord." Miguel raised his bottle in a toast. "They've got you too, I see."

"Just this one so far," Fjord replied, giving his leg a shake. The porg made another little chirp sound, swinging around a little, but stuck fast. "And it's hell-bent on takin' that buckle."

Even though Amaya knew Diaz's pestering about her showing up to another one of these things was just to act as a buffer in case too many people she didn't want to talk to showed up (and, let's face it, it didn't take too many people to get to that point), she still figured it was a good thing for her out of the shop a little, because otherwise she'd barely put her head up from that vibranium Shuri had given her.

So the fact that there was plenty of food available tonight was a good thing, because guess who definitely lost track of time. She'd brought along some mead this time, but her attention was absolutely honed in on food tonight.

"Amaya!" Fjord raised his bottle and gave her a little nod. "Seems like I'm running into you all over, this week."

It was not a complaint.

Also, a couple of days in a row on a small island like this was probably not that big a deal.

Duke was pretty used to the ports by now, and in fact was trailing one or two of them like ducklings as he walked up. He had bourbon and rum with him today, along with a bag of marshmallows — pumpkin spice ones even, since apparently a guy could only get so far in 2019 without having to deal with pumpkin spice something.

"... Gotta get pointers from you about how to get them to just follow behind," Fjord mused, one porg still dangling stubbornly from the boot buckle by his knee, suspended there by its little jowly mouth. Fjord himself was sporting jeans and a t-shirt today.

He was not a fan of jello.
