Beach - Sunday morning.

Kaidan took himself off for a run along the beach Sunday morning. The weather had finally broken so it was cool enough in the earlier hours that it didn't feel like running through warm soup. His brain was doing its hamster wheel thing, so he let his body do its thing and find an easy loping pace.

There were little.. bird.. things.. on the ground. That was a hazard he hadn't previously encountered on the beach, so his jog wound up something more akin to free-running when he dodged or jumped them. After a few minutes, Kaidan just gave into it and started actually free-running, launching himself up and over larger rocks in various flavors of flips and leaps. He'd never have the kind of fluid grace Kanan would bring to something like this, since he cheated and used the Force for it, but he did it with the ease of long practice. It had become part of his training routine a long time ago. He just didn't normally do it on the beach.

A day for different things.

[Open beach.]

"That's one way to avoid them," Liam said, amused. He'd been on the tail end of his early-morning run, about to head back to the apartment, when he'd caught sight of Kaidan and so slightly altered course.

“Porgs,” Liam supplied helpfully. “From wherever Rey’s from, apparently.” Which happened to be the same place Kanan’s from, give it take a few decades, but Liam didn’t know that.

Fandom’s record wasn’t too bad, actually; every few years something new popped up and they never seemed to get so far as to overrun the island.

“On a personal level, I’m concerned about what would happen to any of them dumb enough to get too close to my apartment.” They were dumb and made of meat, the mice would absolutely devour them if they impinged on their territory.

“I can try,” Liam shrugged. “But it’s in their nature to defend their territory, and god or not, it’s not really my place to ask them to go against that.”

Aeslin were a touch more, uh. Carnivorous than their non-cryptid counterparts, that was for sure.

Also one roast chicken would not do the trick; there would absolutely be regular roast chickens. “Maybe the porgs wont even come near the apartment and it won’t be an issue,” Liam said, with forced cheer. One could hope!

"What can I say, I'm an optimist."

"I mean," he shrugged, looking serious for a moment. "It's better than the alternative."

Yes, the optimism had functioned as essentially a survival mechanism, for him.

"Yeah?" Liam said. "Anything in particular spur that change, or just..." he trailed off, shrugging one shoulder.

"Here's hoping," Liam agreed, his voice gentling slightly.
