The Perk, Tuesday Afternoon

Octavia still wasn't sure when she'd become a person who made plans with people - especially casual plans that had nothing to do with weapons or fighting of any kind. But this week she was glad for it, because distractions were a welcome thing, and so here she was, at the Perk to meet up with Magnus.

The barista that had the biggest problem with her did not seem to be at work today, so she was able to get her peppermint mocha without incident. Thankfully. Afterwards, she took a seat by one of the windows, perfect for watching the street.

"I have other friends, who don't care whether I go on dates or not."

Technically a couple of them were people she did date-like things with. But, details!

"Yeah, but they're not your best buddy," Magnus pointed out.

"And that's what you think you are?"

He was.

But he couldn't help teasing, and she couldn't help being an ass.

"Yep!" He was pretty sure about it. Pretty sure.

"Why?"

Magnus paused, blinking at that. "Well, because you're definitely my best friend here."

And there went all the snark she'd had in her.

"Yeah," Octavia said. "You're mine, too."

He grinned at that. "See? Maybe for Candlenights I'll get us those BFF bracelets."

He totally would.
