The Park, Monday Afternoon

"Please come down."

Seivarden had resorted to begging Issa to climb down from the tree, even though the cat rarely did what she said unless it involved food. Maybe she was stuck, maybe she was just happy watching the birds.

Seivarden guessed she was displeased about the birds being unwilling to be caught though."

"Please, I can't get help from the Trooper station, it's Monday.

She sighed, staring up at the cat, whose tail was lashing back and forth as she stared at a bird

It was Monday, and Lucifer was strongly enjoying his lack of a class by... striding across town for some decent baked goods. Maybe he should have left for the mainland again. The island was incredibly boring on weekdays, and--

"Are you hoping the tree will talk back?" Lucifer called. "Because I have some bad news."

All her attention had been on Issa, so Seivarden almost jumped when she hear him.

"Lucifer. No, it's my cat."

She gestured up at Issa, who was now staring down at the two of them.

"You have a cat?" Lucifer said, approaching, squinting up at the tree.

"Yes," Seivarden said. "Issa. She likes climbing trees and sometimes she won't come down."

She turned her head to look at Lucifer, smiling. "She usually does eventually."

"Never quite saw the point of them," Lucifer said conversationally. "Loud, messy creatures."

"They're good company," Seivarden said a little defensively.

"If you say so. You know, if it's going to come down eventually, why stand here and shout?" Lucifer said, casting Seivarden a look.

"She," Seivarden pointed out. "And I can't just abandon her."

Perhaps Lucifer did have a point though, not that she wanted to admit it.

"I brought tea," she said, completely changing the subject. "Not as good as freshly made, of course, but drinkable. Would you like a cup?"

She took a step closer, a little unsure what kind of affection they were going to show in public.

"You brought tea while chasing your cat across town?" Lucifer said. "Nevermind." He grinned. "Of course you have."

Seivarden being who she was.

"Yes, I'll have some."

Seivarden glanced up at Issa, then offered Lucifer a cup.

Obviously she ha brought two. That went without saying.

She poured tea for both of them, then shot another glance at the cat, then said, smiling:

"So, how was your weekend?"

Lucifer took the cup, and sipped it, also eyeing the cat - though with a fair bit more of distaste.

"Quieter than I'd like," he said, "Though I did meet a lovely person called Theo who managed to add a spark of excitement to my Saturday afternoon. Tourist."

He cast a glance towards Seivarden. "They were more of a coffee person, you'd have hated them."

"That's terrible. Now I have to question your taste."

She grinned at Lucifer, but then Issa started walking back and forth on the branch.

"Come down!"

Lucifer sighed, hand coming up to touch Seivarden's lower back. "She'll come down when she bloody well pleases, my dear, yelling just makes you look mad."

"I'm..." Seivarden said, then took a sip of tea. She placed her hand on Lucifer's arm, being very aware that even though she obviously couldn't feel it through her clothes, that hand was not wearing a glove.

Lucifer dropped his hand smoothly. "And if we're going to drink tea, we might as well sit," he said. "Might be a bit more civilized."

Seivarden snorted. "There's a bench over there."

Perhaps Issa now felt that her human now didn't pay her enough attention, because she made a sudden rush down the tree trunk and towards them as they walked towards the nearby bench.

"And there would be your cat," Lucifer said, sitting down on the bench with one leg slung over the other. "Nothing left to worry about."

Seivarden sat down next to Lucifer, smiling at him as she lifted a purring fluffy cat on to her lap.

"I just get worried. So, any plans for this week?"

"Well, tomorrow is the Devil's Nest, of course. I'm still trying to decide on the appropriate mood, I can't decide between 'straightforwardly festive' and 'camp'," Lucifer mused. "But beyond that, my week is wide open."

"I have my class on Fridays, then a movie night and then the flower shop on Saturday."

She paused.

"The shop isn't very busy."

She could take a day off.

At this point Issa felt the stranger should give her some attention to, so she tried to put her front paws into his lap.

Lucifer brushed at the cat's paws. "No, thank you," he told Issa. His eyes flicked back up to Seivarden's face. "Is that an invitation?"

Seivarden picked up the cat and placed her firmly in her own lap.

"To the flower shop? It depends on what kind of invitation you're expecting." She smirked.

"I might stop by when you play."

"I mean, I've rarely been wooed with flowers, but I'm willing to give it a try," Lucifer teased. "I can't say I took you for a florist."

"I'm not, but there wasn't much demand for military captains here, and considering even the movies can't make up decent space ships..."

She made a gesture with her hand.

"Never mind. Really though, you've never been wooed with flowers?"

Seivarden guessed Lucifer was joking.

"Not by anyone putting their back into it," Lucifer said merrily, taking a sip.

A pause.

"You know I spoke to someone the other day who claimed to be a space ship," he mused. "She was incredibly rude."
