The Silence was back.
It lay curled up on the stop shelf, seemingly asleep, but still muting every sound in the room. Breq sighed, inaudibly, then began to sweep the floor.
Around lunch, the Silence yawned, sat up, walked over to another part of the top shelf and fell asleep.
