The warehouse where the training happens- Friday afternoon

Rey was getting back to basics a little at the warehouse today and was practicing with her staff. On top of it being a weird week, people from other versions of her galaxy would be in town this weekend and she did have some nerves about it. It wasn't like she hadn't met most of the people who'd probably be there, but she was different now, and she didn't know who all knew that, and so it felt interesting. And nerve-wracking.

So yeah, it was good to get back to something old for the moment. This was especially true when she had so much to do and practice and learn and read now that she never had time for everything. Maybe she just had to get better at making time.

"Hello, Rey," Anakin said, walking into the warehouse. He saw what she was working on and like a total asshat good teacher, launched some remotes at her to see what she remembered about fighting them with the Force.

Rey remembered! And as soon as she spotted them she shot her hand out to send them flying back in his direction.

"My staff doesn't deflect those, you know."

He knew that.

He grinned. "I know. They weren't set to full power."

"Thank you for that," she said, lowering her staff. "Hi."

"Hi," Anakin said, grinning back.

[thatwaslucky]

"We can do other things today," she told him, giving the staff a half-twirl. "I was just working on some things."

"How does it feel after doing lightsaber practice?" Anakin asked.

[thatwaslucky]

"Familiar," Rey said. "It's not the first time I've used it lately, but there's something... good about it."

"Meditative?" Anakin wondered.

[thatwaslucky]

"Kind of," she said. "It's just... me."

[sith_happened]

Anakin nodded. "That's me when I'm working on something mechanical."

"So you do it when you just need to get back to yourself a little?" she guessed.

[sith_happened]

"Exactly," Anakin said with a smile. "I had a garage in the old place--still setting up a space here."

"Here where?"

She'd kind of missed Saturday.

[sith_happened]

"Next to the pet shelter, actually," Anakin said. "Juliet is thrilled."

[thatwaslucky]

"You're living here?" Why did that make her happy? "That's got to make things easier for you."

[sith_happened]

"I can't complain about the commute," Anakin said, smiling. "And the kids are old enough to take the weirdness of the island in stride."

"How old are they?" she asked. Not that she had any basis for what kids' ages meant but she didn't really ask personal questions much.

[sith_happened]

"Ten and seven," Anakin said because I think that's about right?.

[thatwaslucky]

"Yeah, that's probably a good age for that?" Rey said, like she had any idea.

[sith_happened]

"And Rory can work from anywhere, and we're totally priced out in Georgetown," Anakin said. "So the kids can commute to school and live here."

[thatwaslucky]

"Sounds like a good arrangement," Rey said. "And you have an obstacle course right there."

[sith_happened]

"I might bring Juliet through it," Anakin said, smiling. "She hates remotes, too."

[thatwaslucky]

"Is everyone in your family Force sensitive?" Rey wondered.

[sith_happened]

"My wife isn't," Anakin said, "but everyone else...yes."
