Turtle & Canary; Wednesday [02/05].
Apu had been complaining about the Squishy machine not working properly, but Shunsui honestly couldn't see what the problem was.
"Those seem like perfectly normal Squshy flavors to me, Apu-san..."
Apparently, that was the point, and he went on to explain that they shouldn't be, because of something to do with shadows? And the whole thing made absolutely no sense, and Shunsui was starting to wonder if maybe Apu was finally beginning to crack.
"Well," he proposed, trying to sound judicious about the whole thing, "how about, if the..err...problem persists through tomorrow, then I will go ahead and call Movie Class-chan to come have a look at it, neh? You know I am always delighted to have her company, but I can assure you, and I know you'll agree, if we drag her out here to look at the machine and there's actually nothing wrong with it, then we'll have problems far greater than a faulty Squishy machine on our hands ♥."
Which just meant that Apu was tempted to just call Amaya himself, because there was something clearly wrong with it, how could Shunsui not see it???

(She was still having nightmares of her own, of course. But those were getting less dramatic and therefore easier to ignore once morning came.)
She also took all of one glance at Apu before asking, "What's the matter with him?"
[ooc: SP reigns once more, because life insists on happening on Wednesdays lately. GDI.]

But with his attention now on something far more pleasant, his mood lifted to suit, and he smiled. "Some nonsense with the Squishy machine, this time around, despite it functioning completely normally and arguably better than usual."
He waved his hand dismissively, as if brushing it away as a topic when there were more enticing things they could be discussing instead, his grin broadening as he added, "You're looking stunning today, Octavia-chan ♥." Which was to say not like a sleep-deprived walking corpse. "Good morning ♥?" Which was to say a...decent night. All wrapped neatly in his usual conversational cheerfulness, while already pouring out a cup of sake.
[[ what a jerk <3 ]]

She figured he didn't tend to see many actual mornings, and today was probably no different.

"And what counts as my morning," he said, smiling fondly, "has just gotten significantly better ♥. Who needs a sunrise when they have you, Octavia-chan~ ♥?"
The grin took a shamelessly unapologetic tilt as he offered out the cup. "Your sake, hato ♥?"
no subject
Carefully, as usual.
"And I'm nothing like a sunrise, Shunsui," she added while her fingertips grazed his palm. Possibly baiting him on purpose, for once. There was a vague hint of something amused to her tone, anyway.

Some of the way she seemed amused by that was due to an entirely different conversation about the sun and predictability she'd had recently.
But not nearly all of it.

He grinned faintly as he paused, as if he needed to concentrate on pouring his own sake before adding, "But one does look forward to finding out ♥."
no subject
In fact, there was a longer pause, and then she finally said, "Sorry about last week." Her tone was wry, but only barely. She knew she hadn't exactly done anything wrong or been particularly difficult (not by her own standards, anyway) - but she also knew she'd made him try a fair bit.

"Being tired, I guess."

She let her gaze slide down to the cup in her hand. "Last week was rough," she said, managing to sound both mild and light at the same time. "For a few reasons. This one's going much better."
no subject
"Anything in particular you're looking forward to for this much better week, then, Octavia-chan ♥?" he asked with a faint, warm smile.
no subject
As of yet, anyway.
no subject
He could only assume, since he didn't exactly have the specifics, but he was pretty confident that they weren't quite necessary to comfortalby reach that conclusion.
"And who is Ai Snogon?" he asked, conversationally, around his next sip of sake. "A friend, I assume ♥?"
no subject
"It's not a name," she said, with a stray bit of something softer entering her tone, just briefly. "Or I guess it is, if you think all the words you call a person by qualify as names."

And, look! Here was another bout of hesitation, this one brought on by a subtle but also sudden moment of feeling a little self-conscious.
Octavia took a sip from her cup before continuing. "And I don't really like words like 'boyfriend'. They're just -- not for me. So... snogon."
no subject
That, in fact, called for Shunsui lifting his sake cup in a toast with a wink before drinking what remained in his cup down.
"And I think that," he said, starting to pour his next round, "deserves more sake ♥."
no subject
Special to herself, sure, but...

There was absolutely no denying that. And even if she'd tried to, the softening of her tone - again - would probably have betrayed her actual feelings.
"It's just...not news."
no subject
"Besides," he added, with a brightening of his voice as he took up his cup again, with the air of someone who'd just moved a pawn into an unexpected checkmate on the board, "this is the first you've mentioned this ai snogon in one of our conversations, which makes it news to me ♥."
And therefor? That sake was more than justified.
no subject
"True, I guess," she relented. "And, calling him that is pretty new. Even if the rest isn't. "
