Breq found a small tree in bloom when she opened Groovy Tunes, along with soothing nature sounds. There were more plants inside, all with pretty flowers, and when she managed to get the stereo to change the sounds to something more interesting, she sat down behind the counter, just enjoying the day. 

It turned out that someone else wanted to enjoy the day. Around lunchtime the Silence showed up, hiding under a plant but making its presence obvious by silencing the music. Breq looked at it, knowing that there wasn't much she could do, and made some more tea.
