If anyone adult needed a drink - and Lucifer certainly did all the bloody time - well, the Devil's Nest was open.

The Devil himself, however, was roaming around behind the bar looking frazzled, for his standards, as he cashed in multiple Ibizan favors over the space of an hour.

"Yes," Lucifer said irritably.

There had been no Skeletons binges this time. "I'm just-- dealing with a general interdimensional situation."

"Ahhh," Jaskier said like he understood that perfectly. He did not, but whatever. Not important.

"Apparently it's possible for your home to become so slowed down that you can't place a phone call," Lucifer explained.

Sort of.

The 'ahh' turned more into a sympathetic, "Ohh." Jaskier reached over to give him a reassuring pat on the arm. "Well, that sounds suitably horrific."

"Also a friend walked into the woods and disappeared," Lucifer said, eyeing his hand for a second. "So it's been rather a week for the splendid folks at Portalocity."

"That does sound like a very bad week," Jaskier said, removing his hand before it could be removed from him. You were very prickly today, Lucifer. "Is that a sort of thing that happens here often?"

You know. Asking for a friend.

"I have no idea, it just seems to have happened twice in the span of a few weeks," Lucifer said.

Though at least he could still actually reach home, he just needed to be in bloody quarantine first.

"Is there some sort of monster out there maybe?" Because his experience said that it may be. Or some bandits. Or maybe a weird temporal pit.

Oooh, new meat. Eric gave him a little smirk from behind the bar where he was fixing himself a drink.

Jaskier gave him his very best smile. Because, yes, new meat!

"Goodness you are very tall. Like a tree."

That he would climb if it didn't damage his clothing.

"Yes, I am," Eric said. "I'm Eric. I own this bar."

Well, kind of. It was complicated.

Which was why Jaskier's gaze sort of trailed back on over to Lucifer there. "Jaskier, a pleasure to meet you," he said, recovering from that admirably.

"He's here too," Eric said, nodding at Lucifer.

More than Eric, generally. DETAILS.

"Ah," Jaskier replied, nodding along with him. "You'll have to excuse me, I'm still new in town. Getting to know all the little details."

"Oh, if you try to learn all the details in town, it'll drive you crazy," Eric said.

"I don't know if that's ominous or charming."

Eric wandered in from his office and arched up his eyebrows. "Do you need to kill someone?" he asked. "Because I have people who can hide bodies."

Lucifer rolled his eyes. "Of course you do," he said irritably. "No, I only need to therapeutically strangle someone."

"I have people for that, too," Eric said. "Octavia-related?" he guessed.

He could pretend he didn't care that much, but he did listen to radio.

"Octavia-adjacent," Lucifer said, annoyed. "My home universe appears to have slowed down to an impossible degree. It's highly annoying."

Or, y'know, preventing him from doing something dramatic and ill-advised involving Chloe Decker.

"Oh, an ex of mine was stuck here for years with something like that," Eric said, sounding a little sympathetic. "She couldn't return or hear from anyone. Almost killed herself some Portalocity gnomes."

"Was she trying to set an example for the other gnomes? Because otherwise that sounds highly unproductive," Lucifer said.

"I think it was to set an example," Eric said, nodding. "They got much more sympathetic to her situation afterwards."
