It was officially summer even if it wasn't officially summer yet, and Tino had taken the initiative to do the specials board today.

HALF OFF MARGARITAS

He looked a little bit like he was waiting for a challenge on that.

"I actually agree with this one," Kitty told him.

And then Tino looked confused.

Anyway, margaritas, anyone?

"These half-off specials are just asking for trouble," said Rosa, when she came in to get her usual Tuesday night drinking on, even though it had been a very, very long time since one of those half-off specials actually got her into any sort of trouble. But it was a thing to say.

"That's part of the point," Kitty told her. "Margarita?"

"Yes," said Rosa, but Kitty already knew that. "We'll start with mango and work our way through the flavors, which I'm pretty sure happened the last time you did margaritas." And it was great, so why change it?

"How's your week been?"

"Quiet," Kitty said because she needed to get out more, starting to get the drink together. "Trying to take Lexi out to do outdoor things since last year was kind of a wash. What about you?"

Rosa shrugged a shoulder. "Won the Wednesday thing," she said, although, really, she wasn't sure it was really winning. "Wondering if it's worth it try to defend the title again this week." Blackstone hadn't competed, which was a major let-down, but there was a new dark horse in the running on that course. "Got a new neighbor who I'm pretty sure became my enemy within just a few hours. I think that's a new record for me."

She should probably not sound proud of that, and yet...

"Which neighbor?"

Please don't drive away the one new guy who'd come in recently.

Look, Rosa had a very simple rule about that sort of thing, and the only reason she drove people away was because they insisted on talking to her, and she did not think that was going to be a problem at all with Williams, considering he wouldn't even talk to her to do his job.

Which, in retrospect, she realized she might actually be okay with.

"....I already forgot her name." She was pretty sure Hot Goth Neighbor wasn't actually her name, anyway, but that was what she'd been calling her. "She did try to trip me, though, at the park thing."

Which was almost admirable. Dumb. But admirable.

"She tried to trip you?" Kitty asked, sliding over her drink. "Is she seven?"

Rosa snorted, as if she hadn't totally planned to have booted the Weird Stuffed Cat out of the way if they had a chance to play it out, which they didn't. "Right?" she said, taking a sip of the drink. "And it didn't even work, either, so too bad for her."

Or really, maybe not, because that had been one less bucket Lucille had to stick her feet in, which was not the case for Rosa.

"If this is going to become a thing I'm going to be watching for it tomorrow," Kitty promised.

"I can't guarantee anything,' said Rosa, who wasn't now trying to think of ways to antagonize her new neigh or, really!, "but you definitely should. If anything, I want witnesses."

Why did that sound almost slightly ominous?

"That... sounds ominous," Kitty agreed with the narrative.

Rosa just looked at Kitty for a moment.

"I can't guarantee anything," she repeated, but this time, with a pointed sip of her drink.

Did that help?

Kitty considered this.

And then made a "zips lips" gesture, mostly because she didn't have a lot going on right now and kind of wanted to see what would happen.

And, honestly, it would probably be a big let down but now Rosa was determined to at least make it worth her while. She nodded.

"You're a good friend, Kitty."

"I try," Kitty said. "At the very least, it's entertaining."

"That's one word for it," said the woman who kept showing up to do them anyway, but at least now she had the excuse of a sort-of title to defend. "I'm just hoping for no team ones this week," or any week, and now she had to think about her and Hot Goth Neighbor being on a team with her, and wouldn't that be fun! "And no gross foot stuff."
