Caritas; Wednesday [05/27].
Summer's conversation with Nina yesterday had put her in a...thoughtful kind of mood. Introspective. Quiet. The activity had been a nice distraction, but, for the most part, she was spending an awful lot of time in her own head that day. She'd made a phone call, made some plans with her mom for a well-overdue girls' night out (after explaining several times that, no, Mom, everything's fine, she wasn't a clone of brainjacked or a different dimension Summer, she just missed her, okay, was that really so weird?), and then spent a good portion of her shift just on her phone, looking some stuff up, making some plans and adjustments. And deeply considering sending out a text, almost doing it a few times before she really thought better of it, sighed, and then tucked her phone into her pocket once and for all.
And not a moment too soon, it seemed.
"What. TheHell, Tino? Can we please not deal with chainsaws tonight?"
He claimed it was for an ice sculpture, but then where was the ice, Tino? Where. Was. The. Ice??

Look, he was still a little frazzled.

"Yeah," she said instead, already finding a bottle of scotch, "it's kind of this whole thing I do. How you doing, Lucifer? Feels like it's been a hot minute."

"Five shots?" she asked, just to .ake sure. "What's the occasion?"

"And there's plenty more where that came from, too," she added, as she set down the fifth one and set the tray down, close at hand.

"That," he said, "tastes like a unicorn just threw up sugar all over a glass."

"I would have preferred to postpone this conversation."

She frowned a little.
"How many of those are you having?"

She clearly needed a jello shot first, not that she would tell Summer that. And a whiskey.
"Double Rainbow Cake?"

And then just set down another shot, went to fill another whiskey.
"So," she ventured, "how was.your daaaay?"
no subject
"You?"

But Summer kept that to herself at the moment. "Just keep the real deer away," she said. "They totally trashed our part of the obstacle course earlier. And my day was fine, kind of boring. Reworking some lesson plans, made plans with my mom..." Obsessed a little about texting the devil.... "Total yawn, right?"
