The Devil's Nest, Friday Night

There was nothing that cured a maudlin fit like a good homicide investigation that involved torturing a by-the-book cop at the same time. Yes, Lucifer's mood was back up and he was happy to get behind the piano tonight.

The theme was 'classy classics', Lucifer decided, as he lit a cigarette, set his glass on top of the piano, and began to play.

Lucifer had said that maybe it wouldn't matter if Summer tried to get actual booze at the Devil's Nest tonight because of Eric's apparently devastating declarations of love, or whatever, but Eric had never really been the issue. Eric was just the owner. It was Tiny who was the true gatekeeper in all of this, in her opinion.

Which was exactly why she was there that evening being sweet as could be to put all this to the test.

Which she did almost every week, anyway, really, so it wasn't like the Eric thing really even played into it.

"Summer," Seivarden said, leaning against the bar next to her. "Are you actually allowed to drink here?"

She ordered a whisky from Tiny.

"Technically?" asked Summer brightly, pulled up to the finest posture of pride. "No. But that hasn't stopped me so far. I still think Tiny's not entirely convinced on the whole 'serving me directly' thing yet, but he does seem to have given up on the whole 'other people buying me drinks' approach."

She said, leaning toward Seivarden a little, brows lifted leadingly.

Hint, hint.

She took that hint but wasn't going to act on it, just yet.

"Those laws are really silly."

Tiny poured the drink Seivarden had ordered and she reached for the glass.

"Summer!" Lucifer greeted enthusiastically on one of his piano breaks, grinning broadly. "What can I make Tiny get you?"

Yeah, that's right, Tiny, you were making them anyway and Summer Smith didn't know the meaning of the word 'quit.'

Well, she did. But not when she was pretty sure she could win.

"Cosmo," she beamed proudly back. "It just seems to fit the mood tonight. I know it's not technically a martini, but come on. Do I look like the kind of woman who orders a boring ass martini when there are so many other options?"

"There are variations on the hallowed martini you could try," Lucifer pointed out merrily, "But I'm sure Tiny will relish the opportunity to make a Cosmopolitan for once. Tiny?"

Tiny looked grumbly, but he went to collect the ingredients anyway.

Octavia had had a Week. And next week, she was supposed to start... trying to get help, in ways she had no previous experience with and which she was kind of wary of, because it involved talking and, well, everyone knew how well she dealt with that.

Somehow, tonight, that translated to her turning up at the Devil's Nest - wearing a sleek, black jump suit with a black, biker-style leather jacket on top, her hair pulled up into a high ponytail.

With faint traces of brandy already on her breath, even as she was only just making her way to the bar to get something from Tiny.

Yes, he had spotted her, but he was in the middle of something.

He got a little wave back. Or at least Octavia raised her hand a little.

Then she went ahead with ordering a drink. Actually a cocktail, this time.

Lucifer finished the song, and took his bows as he got up.

"Well, I see someone bust out the nice outfit tonight," he said, stepping up beside her at the bar.

Duke let out an absolutely ridiculous wolf whistle as he came over, pitched just right for her to hear without drawing too much extra attention.

"That is so hot."

Octavia raised her martini a little bit, half in greeting and half in acknowledgement of the compliment.

She looked faintly amused, which meant her pre-gaming was showing.

"Mochof."

"De nada." Duke tilted his head. "It is missing a little something, though. We should look into finding you a new pendant."

He did not expect her to agree, no.

Seivarden approached Lucifer between songs, smiling, drink in hand. She leaned against the piano.

"I'm glad you haven't picked up the local background music."

Her orignal plan for tonight had been a movie night (not a "movie night") with Amaya, but Amaya had left a message earlier saying that she had to cancel due to an emergency. Seivarden had wondered if it had anything to do with last weekend, but as Amaya had agreed to it in the first place, and work emergencies were, well, emergencies in a way movie nights weren't, she had let go of that thought.

And of course that meant she could stop by Devil's Nest, which wasn't a bad way to spend an evening either.

"Please, I've been readjusting the volume controls in here so we hear as little of it as possible," Lucifer said, reaching for his drink.

"I've been increasing the volume on my TV all week," Seivarden said, taking a drink from her own. "How has your week been?"

Any awkwardness had disappeared with Sunday's hangover, she had been telling herself.
