As a man who prided himself in his ability to skip out on countless Captains' meetings (in a way, this whole venture back to the island had proven a mostly successful, more-than-a-year-long avoidance of said Captains' meetings), Shunsui was more than willing to consider skipping out on those assemblies an extension of that philosophy. It wasn't quite the same, of course, since he was still, technically 'working' (although the most strenuous thing he did beyond checking customers out--in more ways that one--was the requisite addition to Summer-chan's sign), but it was similar enough for him to feel a certain sense of pride in upholding the tradition.


Of course, it was a little bit different, he realized, when that first paintball hit the front window, when the assemblies might actually be coming to him.

There was now a large spatter of green on the window, followed by a splatter of yellow, and that seemed it for the moment, though it definitely felt like the first of many, many more to come, and he passed a worried glance over to Apu-san.

"At least," he tried hopefully, "they won't come in."

Steve came rolling in, shield up over his head like a complete dork. "Who even gave the manicurist a paintball gun?" he asked, looking dismayed.

Which was quite an entrance, one that lifted Shunsui's brows significantly as he accessed the situation and looked ruefully toward the door to see who else might just come rolling in.

"Well, there certainly aren't any paintball guns in here," he drawled, which wasn't even true, they had some in Aisle Handwavey, although Apu had gone and confiscated the arsenal for the time being, "and I was rather hoping to keep it that way..."

"Oh, I'm not here to start anything," Steve assured him with a smile. "Just...checking in. I needed groceries and apparently picked the worst afternoon for it."

There was a small huff of a laugh at that, wrought mostly out of sympathy if that statement was indeed correct.

"And the manicurist?" Shunsui asked.

"Not a bad shot for a gal with wet nail polish," Steve admitted.

With another quirk of a brow, Shunsui held out his hand, inspecting his nails from a few different angles.

"Maybe I'm a bit overdue for a touch-up ♥," he said with a crooked grin, and shifted his attention back over to the beleaguered shopper. "I'll try to keep an eye on the door for any other overzelous shooters while you obtain your groceries," he offered. "As a staunch pascifist, I'd rather prefer to keep these war games firmly outside of my shop."

"I appreciate it," Steve said with a grin. "Pacifists are not easy to find on this island."
