Caritas; Wednesday [09/02].

Honestly, this week just kept getting better and better for Summer.

"Tino," she said, quirking up her chin, gesturing a finger behind her ear, "I think you missed a spot."

And so Tino would go and try to clean off some paint that he'd apparently failed to clean off earlier.

Then, a little while later, "Oh, hey, Tino, there's another spot..."

And so Tino would go and clean off the spot Summer had indicated he'd missed on his shoulder.

"Tino, I can't believe I didn't see it before, right there, on your hairline..."

It did not actually take Tino long to realize that Summer was just messing with him, and when he confronted her with an expression that said as much, she just met it with a big, sweet smile and an innocent flutter of her eyelashes, before she dropped it and said, "But, no, seriously, there's a huge green spot right on the back of your elbow still."

...in retrospect, he really should not have fallen for that.

Or mod your he-really-was-thorough-in-cleaning-up-at-least-himself Tino here while chilling and doing your own thang.

"Do I need to be concerned?" Jesse asked.

She'd... maybe been telekinetically redirecting paint away from her all day.

"Probably!" Summer answered cheerfully, as she set a nice, cold generic beer down in front of Jesse because now she was a regular. "But you might also need to be a little more specific."

Jesse took her beer with the level of rueful resignation that being a regular required in her book. "The paintball," she said. "That's just a school thing, right? We're not being invaded?"

"It's currently just a school thing, yeah," Summer confirmed. "I'm not going to say it will stay just a school thing, because there have definitely been times when something like an innocent school-wide paintball fight didn't snowball into something much weirder and/or worse, but, I think, with this one, we might be okay since we did just get out of the whole night mares thing and this place is usually pretty decent about pacing. I wouldn't worry too much."

She still wanted to be honest about it, though.

"If there's still a thing by Friday, then maybe worry."

"Thanks," Jesse said wryly. "I'm still learning the schedule."

She took a sip of her beer. "How've you been?"

As soon as she saw the sign, Eleanor headed straight to the microphone and the band began to play a song.

"No. Absolutely forking not."

So the band tried another tune

"Stop with the forking Disney shit! Just stop. Stop."

She cleared her throat and sang...

Little lamb! Little lamb!
Mary had a little lamb!
And roasted and served it with mint jelly!

After her song, Eleanor sat down at the bar patting it happily with her hands. "I sang!" she declared. "It wasn't long but I sang. One lotus jello shot if you please!"

It was just the sort of question to put a big, dumb grin on Summer's suddenly slightly pink face. "Pretty great so far," she had to admit, to compliment the expression. "It's been a good start to the semester. What about you? Please tell me you've eaten at least one thing that wasn't from a vending machine since the picnic."

You definitely planted a seed with that one, Jesse.

It was a good thing Summer liked you, Eleanor, although, honestly, she would have let that fly with most people because she just liked to see people get up there on the stage that weren't decomposing.

"Short and sweet," she said, setting down that well-deserved jello shot, "like yourself. It's a good one to get started with, right? What else can I get you, Eleanor?"

"I had a Mooby Burger yesterday," Jesse said, and then quickly evaded to, "So what's that grin about?"

"That's a mild improvement, but...baby steps," Summer allowed, because she wasn't going to let her evade entirely, especially not when she had her own evading to do. "And who says it's about anything in particular?"

It was. It so totally was, but she was trying to be effortless cool about it over here.

Seivarden didn't even say that she needed to sing, did she?

"The usual," she said. "Although I'm suspicious of the gremlin one."

"Just save at least one of those jello treats for my new roomie," she replied with a long sigh. "And a reason why I should not go to my classes tomorrow completely hungover."

Summer nodded. "Sure," she said. "It would be sort of a waste if I made them specifically for your roommate and then it turned out he didn't even get one, although there's never exactly a rush going through these things, anyway. As for a reason why you shouldn't go to your class completely hungover? Going to class hungover sucks, and it might feel worth it now, but, girl. Girl. We know better. Although..."

Her head tilted a little.

"What classes do you have?"

Yeah, yeah, yeah, she shouldn't promote students being hungover for classes, but, honestly, if they weren't terrible classes to be hungover for...She just wanted to make sure she was making her reasoinings on informed facts.

"Suspicious?" Summer scoffed, hand to her chest offended, clearly, but she did actually consider her choices there as she set down the usual and one of each of the jello shots in front of Seivarden. "Okay, so, maybe I can kind of see why you would be, but it's just supposed to reference the school mascot, there's not actual gremlin venom in there or anything, but now you almost have me sort of wondering...."

She didn't really need to finish that statement, did she?

Oh. This required actual thinking. Eleanor had to pause for a moment on that one.

"Uhhhhh. Yours. Ethics, again and philosophy," she stuck out a tongue and made a gagging noise for that one.

"Mine and Ethics aren't until Friday," Summer pointed out, "and Philosophy's one of the Community Center classes, right? Those are usually in the evening. But if you showed up to my class on Friday morning with a handover still from tonight, I don't know if I should be more impressed or concerned."

Concerned, Summer. You should definitely be concerned.

"I know you're not evil," Seivarden said. "What did you put in it? And what is lotus wine?"

But first, a sip of whisky.

"Well I wouldn't be hungover from tonight but going into Ethics again I should probably have something before it to make it fun," Eleanor said tapping her chin thoughtfully.

"It wouldn't be evil if people knew what they were drinking and that it was a very important social-scientific experiment," Summer pointed out firmly, because the idea was there in her brain now, Seivarden, she couldn't just get rid of it! "But this one is just blueberry and lemon jellos with vodka. Lotus wine is apparently a wine that we have at the store that is pretty much the only alcohol that Eleanor's roommate has heard of, so she asked that I make a jello shot of it for him to help him feel more welcome and at home."

"Well," said Summer, who definitely wasn't going to be the one to suggest anything in that instance because, hello, teacher, good example, blah blah blah, "if I'm remembering the schedule right, you do have something before it that might make it at least not that bad, and that's my class, sooooo...I'll try to keep in mind that you're stuck dealing with Skywalker when you're done with me."
