Community Center Class: Modern Earth Entertainment - Wednesday, 09/02.

Well, Amaya didn't really know how well this was going to take off. Back when Peter did the class, it was really sort of hit and miss and devolved for a little while into pretty much her and Seivarden showing up just to complain about whatever they were subjected to, and maybe that's all it would be this time around, too, and she was pretty okay with that because it was usually a good time.

Either way, once it was time for the class to get started, she went into her schpiel regardless.

"Well," she started, "welcome to Modern Earth Entertainment, which is honestly just an excuse to get together, have some snacks, and watch some movies. I myself came from a place that doesn't even have electricty, much less movies, so I became a real fan when this class was started a while back by someone else, and now I'm hoping to sort of carry on the tradition.

"I was thinking, since the new semester started back up and all, we'd do a high school themed film, but, in light of today's assembly, I've changed course a little and went with something that might feel a little more thematic. Assuming, of course, that the equipment decides to cooperate."

Because it didn't, sometimes. Cooperate. And Amaya was pretty sure there was nothing that could be done to the equipment to fix that, though you can bet she was going to at least try.

Either way, once everyone got settled in, it was time to get this week's movie started.

Ready for a gunfight!

Take some time to actually socialize before the movie, with a plethora of moddable snacks and drinks (and of course the requisite popcorn!) available to you.

Seivarden grabbed a bowl of popcorn and poured herself a cup of tea.

"So, what kind of movie have you picked?" she asked Amaya.

"Can't tell you," Amaya said with a grin. "It's a surprise."

And, for all she knew, it actually could be!

"Glad you could make it, though. It's going to be nice to get this started back up again."

"It's a good idea," Seivarden said. "I might even come up with a few suggestions."

"I'd love to hear 'em," Amaya confirmed with a nod. "And then it's just a matter of hoping the equipment agrees with you on them. I'm hoping maybe we have fewer troubles with that this year, though. I like to think if anything, I'm a little less reluctant to threaten that sort of misbehavior with consequences than Peter might've been."

"Oh?" Seivarden said, sipping her tea.

"I will not hesitate," Amaya vowed, arms folded firmly in front of her as her eyes narrowed, "to take this equipment apart piece by piece, in front of all the other equipment, too, for that matter, the moment it decides to give me something musical or something with mush when it's explicitely supposed to play something else."

"I believe you," Seivarden said. "Have you told it? Or maybe destroy something in front of it to make an example."

"It has been given the proper warnings," Amaya assured her. "We'll just have to see where it decides to take it from there."

"I hope it doesn't decide to challenge you," Seivarden said, truthfully. "Who knows what the new one would be like."

"I will resort to puppet shows," Amaya vowed, "if I must. But no one wants that."

"Who knows what puppets here are like," Seivarden pointed out.

"Well," Amaya said, "I don't think there'd be much to worry about there. As I always say, if you want something done right, you're best off doing it yourself."

And don't you stand there and say that Amaya attempting to do puppet theater wouldn't be anything short of magical.

There was a bard in town now, too, wasn't there? Maybe she could get him involved.

"You're going to make puppets?" Seivarden asked.

Obviously, it would just be terrible rude of Shunsui to not bother showing up for Movie Class-chan's actual movie class now that she was apparently in charge of running the things. So he was there, and he'd brought beverages that he was more than happy to share, of course, and his shameless grins were getting quite the workout since he made sure to pass her one in response to every disparaging look she sent his way, which where copious.

"Shunsui, good to see you here," Seivarden said. "I should have brought Issa."

"It certainly would brighten my day," Shunsui admitted with a chuckle,and a slight tip of his hat in greeting, "to see your lovely cat ♥. Is she a fan of Modern Earth Entertainment ♥?"

"She likes sitting in people's laps when they don't try to move," Seivarden replied.

"Your cat and I share a lot in common, then ♥," Shunsui couldn't help commenting with a laugh. "I can see why a movie night might be a good time to take advantage of that sort of thing, then ♥."

One could even argue that was part of the whole reason he was here, though he suspected Issa-chan would be significantly more successful at accomplishing that he would.

"So, looking for someone who would let you sit in their lap?"

Seivarden was well aware that Shunsui's preferences didn't include her, so she figured that would be interpreted as friendly teasing rather than flirting.

"Or at least to find one on which to rest my weary head ♥," said Shunsui with a grin, and maybe a touch of wistfulness. "I'm afraid I don't curl up quite so comfortably on most laps as your Issa-chan."

"Cats are especially good at that, aren't they?"

Seivarden said.

"If you intent to come here regularly I can bring her next time though."

That would only make the movie night better, wouldn't it?

"I do intend to make it a regular thing," Shunsui admitted, with a duck of his head and a sly glance toward someone who was no doubt making a point to busy herself to better ignore that this conversation was even happening. "That sounds like a delight ♥."

And he didn't exactly figure he'd be successful in convincing anyone else to sit on his lap for the duration of a movie.

"Perhaps we might be able to convince Amaya-chan to make a selection that might even be suited to Issa-chan's tastes ♥."

"With birds?"

Seivarden picked a popcorn from her bowl and put it in her mouth.

Liam had been glad to see that the regular movie nights were making a return, so, yeah, he was here!

"Well, hey, there, Sheriff!" Amaya grinned to see Liam there, greeting him with a small pump of her fist to compesenate for the relief she was feeling over someone else showing up for this that wasn't...well...she wasn't going to get into it.

"Good to see you."

That was the important part.

A wandering gunfighter plays two rival families against each other in a town torn apart by greed, pride, and revenge.

Seivarden watched for a while, then said: "You know, this reminds me of a planet I was stationed on once."

Oh. Like I could do any other movie today.
