The Devil's Nest, Friday Evening

Octavia seemed to be in a bad way, and Lucifer desperately needed some distraction from the part where his universe was back in sync with Fandom and he suddenly had to deal with things - or actively choose not to deal with things - instead of letting the island avoid them for him. So he'd put out invitations to the mainland again.

It netted him a decent NPC crowd. The DJ probably helped (though he'd had to scout some to find one that wasn't obnoxious).

He sat in a seat near the bar, watching the party with a bit of satisfaction.

No, he hadn't seen her yet. But he would.

Octavia had no particular respect for the idea that she should stay out from behind the bar when it wasn't her night. She was just back there to make herself a drink! And making Tiny explain to her how to do it.

Also she maybe pulled a couple of beers for people while she was at it.

"I'm just giving Tiny a hand," Octavia replied. (Tiny had in no way indicated he needed one, no.) She also nodded at the mai tai that was safely sitting away from the customers. "And getting myself a drink."

She danced.

It had been a long 48 hours since she'd wrangled her way out of heaven, but she was finally where she was supposed to be. She'd find him soon enough, but right now all Eve wanted was to enjoy the moment: her white dress flowing around her, the pleasant buzz of the alcohol, the people brushing up against her.

It was beautiful.

Lucifer was more distracted by the messages on his phone than he really wanted anyone to believe. He didn't notice her for quite a while, in fact. Only when the crowds parted a bit and Tiny grunted softly in recognition did he look up.

And... paused.

After a moment or two, he slid out of his seat and pushed through to the center of the dance floor, eyes big.

"Eve?"

He was still beautiful, too.

"Hiya, Luce," Eve said, grinning, her hands sliding up to push her hair out of her face. "Long time no see."

Eric had emerged from his office to find something to bitch to Lucifer about, but he lingered in the doorway to watch the dancing for a moment.

There was someone tall and blonde looking at her. Eve glanced his way with a grin. "Don't be a wallflower!" she called, before tossing her head back and getting lost in the music again.

So, last week had been awkward.

Seivarden had had time to think though, and had some idea what to say, and perhaps she just needed a drink first.

So she ordered one from Tiny and then approached Lucifer.

Lucifer's track record of serious conversation with Seivarden wasn't exactly grand, so he looked up at her with a bit of wariness in his eyes. "Evening."

Yesterday's Baltimore outing had helped distract Octavia for a while, but she'd known better than to expect it to be a miracle cure. The weight inside her was a little easier to ignore, now, but that didn't mean it wasn't still there.

So yeah, this club thing was practically mandatory tonight.

"Ha yun," she said, as she came up to Lucifer. "Got a crowd, huh?"

"I was feeling a bit lonely in here the last few shifts," Lucifer said, smirking. "Though there are always townies, of course."

"Yeah, but we never flock anywhere like this," Octavia replied, with a little glance around. This was... really touching on some very old memories, but at least they were good ones? (Or at least bittersweet, which was often the best she could hope for.) "Strangers have their uses."

"I was bored," Lucifer said, slipping his phone back into his pocket and grinning at him. "And it seemed like a good way to wipe away the terrible taste of paintball."

"I'm sorry," Lucifer said, walking her back out of the club. "I'm just not... really in a state of mind for houseguests at the moment."

Eve fiddled with her hands as she followed him outside. "I guess I can't expect the Devil to make his life all about Eve," she said, trying for chipper and missing by only a quarter of a foot.
