The warehouse with the thing in it- Friday afternoon

The obstacle course was supposed to be different today, and Rey would be lying if she hadn't been looking forward to this all week.

She decided like last time, she wouldn't go in until Anakin got here, too. She got here closer to his usual arrival time rather than showing up too early, and when sitting and waiting outside was just making her want to peek in and look, she decided to start running through last week's drills with her lightsaber while she waited. Since, you know, she was so not doing that otherwise today.

Anakin was almost vibrating with excitement as he arrived. "You're going to love this," he said. "I've added in some climate control. The woodchucks aren't happy."

Of all the things Rey had expected...

"Climate control?" she repeated, shutting down the lightsaber.

[sith_happened]

"I can make it rain or snow," Anakin said, looking very pleased with himself. "Or very hot, or very windy, but that's mostly obnoxiously large fans."

Which he'd aimed at the woodchucks.

"Oh, you really had fun," she said.

"I really did," Anakin admitted with a grin. "There might also be quicksand."

Rey blinked at him, unsure if that was a joke?

There was definitely quicksand.

"Why don't you go and see," Anakin said, opening the door to a completely redone course, complete with a giant rock wall, ropes to swing from and a ricketing -looking bridge to run across.

And it was raining.

Rey stepped inside, and her jaw dropped.

"Master Skywalker, this is..."

She loved it.

Anakin smiled back at her. "I'm glad you like it."

"This is absolutely going to go badly for me the first time," Rey said. Which was fine.

"Well, if you cracked it too easily, I didn't do a good enough job designing it," Anakin said.

[thatwaslucky]

"Have you run it yet?" she asked.

[sith_happened]

Anakin grinned. "Just the once to make sure the jumps weren't too far from each other."

They were barely close enough, and only if you used the Force.

"Is the quicksand below the jumps?" Rey asked.

[sith_happened]

Anakin grinned again.

[thatwaslucky]

"Oh," Rey said.

[sith_happened]

Anakin will teach you pathological hatred of sand too, Rey! Just you wait!

"It's fun."

[thatwaslucky]

She already had a healthy annoyance!

"Anything else I should know about? Does anything catch fire...?"

[sith_happened]

"Nothing catches fire," Anakin said, "but the rain can get excessive."

[thatwaslucky]

Well, that was just canon for her.

"Should I try it?" she asked.

[sith_happened]

"Definitely," Anakin said, laughing.

[thatwaslucky]

"Okay to have the lightsaber off the first time?" she checked, clipping it to her belt.

Because swinging and quicksand. Quicksand that could not have a very deep bottom here.

"Totally fine," Anakin said, smiling. "Have fun."

Rey took off.

She was always slower on the first run. Faster than she was for the first incarnation, though. She knew Anakin well enough to know that he trusted her enough to handle some difficult stuff, but she was sure some if that difficult stuff could go really badly if she got it wrong.

Plus, you know. Rain. Though getting around on Ahch-To in that weather had at least been good practice.

She'd gotten good at the swinging stuff, and the bridge was no problem at all, through when she got to the parts where a jump would be required, she slowed to a stop, judged the gap, and it might be possible to hear her sigh because she was actually considering not using the Force but also really didn't want to test the quicksand.

Anakin stood by the doorway, watching with a proud smile on his face, learning how she ran this one and getting ideas for what to tweak to make it work better.
